WISE’s mission is to help achieve gender balance in STEM in the UK. With the target of 1 million women in STEM in 2020 within reach, we are looking beyond this to address the fantastic opportunity women have to play a full part in shaping technology and scientific discovery transforming the way we live our lives and shape our economy.

Every year we bring organisations and individuals from across all industries in STEM to inspire them with give key insights and best practice. The 2019 WISE Conference is the premier professional Women in STEM conference and a prime opportunity to help support and shape the debate and decisions about how we can meet the skills gap of the future, and how women in STEM have the potential to play a full part in this.

With over 250 women and men from key organisations attending, attendees will include:

Networking Breakfast

Plenary Keynote speakers – senior industry leaders will tell their story about how they have approached the skills gap in their industry.

Plenary New research developed with Amazon. It explores the potential for using the language of innovation to inspire women’s involvement in science, engineering and technology.

Plenary Network Rail will share insights into the future skills mix needed.

Networking Lunch

Workshops Find out how other companies are seeing real results in addressing their skills gap through sharing best practice from WISE members alongside practical taster sessions of how they achieved this eg recruitment, returner and re-training programmes, apprentices.

Keynote Plenary

Inspiring speakers will engage us with a discussion about the shape of the future workplace and how women could be central our success and future, including Shaping the future of work: robots & responsibility.

Workshops Get a hands-on experience of the new skills which may help shape our future including taster sessions of a new platform to engage girls - this is a chance for everyone to learn something new.

Panel Debate

A chance to spark ideas in a creative way to discuss the question of which content and delivery of skills works best? Traditional vs untraditional?
