August is also one of the most challenging months for congrega- tions to keep doing ministries with re- duced numbers, from ushers to volun- teers for the homeless ministries. Your continued support on so many levels al- lows us to keep on being the church for the sake of the world God so loves. On behalf of the whole congregation, I want to express the deep gratitude and appreciation for the way in which you all have responded to the very significant challenge we’ve been facing: The EM Water Retention Project. Your generous financial outpouring thus far will allow us to pay for the third, 25% payment, and have some left for the final payment as well. While we are still about $100,000 short of the knowable goal, we have come a long way. THANK YOU! We are all looking forward to when this will be in our past. August 18-25, we will be hosting homeless families through Family Promise. The team has been working very hard to be ready for our guests. As forecasts hover around 110 for highs, I cannot imagine living on the street. THANK YOU for caring, directly or indirectly through your support, for these neighbors in need. We can’t just listen to the story of the good Sa- maritan; we have to go be the neighbor to those in need. And as with all of the Augusts that have come before, this one, too, will yield to September’s changes. That’s the way of life: chapters/events come... and go. May God watch over your going out and your coming in, from this time forth and forever more (based upon Psalm 121). Pastor Bill Rindy
