Achievements: • Introduced electric lighting to Mackay in 1925

• Established the Mackay Airport in 1930

• Construction of city’s sewerage system in mid 1930’s

• Served as Mayor after the 1918 cyclone and played a major role in the city’s reconstruction

• Won the Sydney Jockeys Premiership 10 times

Achievements: • Left a job at Pleystowe Mill in 1914 to become a Vaudeville and Film star. Labelled “one of greatest comedians and stars of the Vaudeville stage”

• Major comedy role in 1933 Australian musical ‘Collitt’s Inn’

• Starred in Cinesound comedies

• ‘Let George Do It’ in 1938

• During WWII acted for a time as Northern Command Intelligence Offi cer in Mackay

• President Mackay RSL for six years

Achievements: • Responsible for much of rebuilding of old Mackay from the 1930’s

• At the height of his career, associated with about one third of the building projects in Mackay

• Own home at 14 Brisbane Street now occupied by a medical practice (beside the old Police Station)

• Retired in 1983.

• He was very involved in the Catholic church always and had taken part in major ceremonies in Australia and Rome.
