3. Jin Yuan Senior High School is one of eleven recently modernized
boarding schools in Shanghai.It is in the Putuo district of
Shanghai. It is one of eleven districts in and around ShanghaiThe
district consists of 146 schools serving a population one million
people.The total population in Shanghai is eighteen million.A
school was originally built on this sight in 1904 and was known as
the Hua Tong Public School, however it has been renamed and
modernized in recent years.The stated aim of the school is Optional
Education, Overall Learning, Outstanding Development
4. The Subsidised Music SquareThe school takes students from 16-18,
it is an experimental model high school, and is very important
school in Shanghai
5. Mr Moloney and the headteacher of Shanghai Jin Yuan Senior High
School Mrs Wang Liping have worked together to establish the
link.Mrs Liping has also worked as the Office Director of Putuo
Educational Bureau and Deputy General Party Branch Secretary
amongst other posts
6. Both George Abbot School and Jinyuan have link schools all over
the world, and both consider the Global Dimension as an essential
part of students education

and some funding and support for the project has also been given by

19. Back home Jinyuan students uphold traditions, but are

20. Jinyuan is very proud of its history and traditions, and these
are celebrated in a very modern way. In the twenty first century
the students and staff work extremely hard at school, but the staff
are keen for students to remember that the lighter side of life is
very important too, as in this picture of staff on a day out!
21. Students work hard, but the atmosphere is relaxed and
friendly.There is a wide curriculum and many different styles of
teaching.Students in this music lesson (left) were studying the
song Memories from the London show Cats
22. Students in the experimental English class were studying a book
called The Personality Potion in which a boy must stand up for what
he thinks is right against bullies in the playground
23. Students were asked to discuss, to comment and to prepare to
read in groups in role as characters in the book

their work in groups. The rest of the class voted on the best
performances
