Dear Friends, In the Beatitudes, Our Lord Jesus tells us, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” If we want peace in our world, it begins with each one of us. We all have a personal responsibility to be a
peacemaker...within our families, at work, in our parish community, in our city, state, and nation, and in all other areas of our lives. I invite all of us to pray the prayer of St. Francis everyday:

MINISTRY OF THE WORD Children’s Religious Education RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION will open August 16 using a program that will allow for at-home or in-person instruction. Cost is $15 per child or $30 per family. NEW FIRST COMMUNION GUIDELINES - In accordance with the archdiocese, our sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion will now be a two year program. Students are expected to be enrolled in and attend Religious Education classes for two years (for most starting in 1st grade), as well as Sacramental Preparation classes during their Sacrament year. This will not affect those children, ages 7 or older, who make their sacraments during the 2020-2021 year. However, if your child is a first grader, they need to enroll in religious education to prepare to make their sacraments in 2021-2022. For answers to questions, call Jen Staszak at 541-708-8501.
Youth Group Confirmation registration 2020-2021 will open August 3 for the entire month. You can register online or with the forms in the breezeway. Our next summer youth group is August 7 at 5:30 PM. More details to come. Free food box handouts will go through the month of August! Please come if you can volunteer. Boxes are usually passed out on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM at Shepherd of the Valley Church. More details will be posted on our Facebook page.
“Lord, make me an instrument of your
PEACE Where there is hatred, let me sow
LOVE Where there is injury,
PARDON Where there is doubt,
FAITH Where there is despair,
HOPE Where there is darkness,
LIGHT And where there is sadness,
JOY Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to Console; to be understood as to Understand; to be loved as to
Love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is dying
that we are born to eternal life. Amen.”
