AROUND THE ARCHDIOCESE TF114: Catholics and Other Faiths - Part 3 "Religion - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." As we put the finishing touches on our discussion about Catholics and other religions we find ourselves wondering "What the heck is a religion anyway?" We'll discuss religion vs World View, how we make choices in everyday life and whether or not atheists believe things the same way Christians or other people of faith believe. We're ques-tioning everything and finding answers if we're lucky this week on Thinking Faith! http://thinkingfaith.libsyn.com/tf114-catholics-and-other-faiths-part-3
“AS ONE WHO SERVES” The Archdiocese of Regina’s discernment process for our next cohort of deacon candidates is under way. The process is thorough, like any responsible discernment in life. And, like other kinds of discernment, it is not a test to pass, but a question to answer. “Yes” or “no” are both good answers as long as God’s will is being followed. No one “fails.” The process extends over several months and includes an applica-tion form and a series of different kinds of interviews de-signed to help you (and the Archdiocese) to recognize God’s call in your life. It also needs to be accompanied by prayer, discussion with loved ones and trusted mentors, and learning more about what being a deacon means. If you have ever wondered if God is calling you to serve God’s people as a permanent deacon, now is the time to ex-plore this possibility. To get started, contact Dr. Brett Salkeld, Archdiocesan Theologian at 306-352-1651, ext. 214. St. Martin de Porres Parish is seeking a part-time Pastoral Assistant who is a practicing Catholic familiar with sacra-ments and liturgy. The successful candidate will be directly responsible to the Pastor for the religious faith formation of the parish family and where appropriate, the St. Matthew School community. The position involves collaboration with the Pastor, Pastoral Team and parish groups. A full job de-scription can be found on St. Martin’s website: www.stmartindeporresregina.com. Preference will be given to those with a background in religious studies or lay minis-tries. If you’re interested, please send your resume to [email protected], or mail it to St. Martin de Porres 4720 Castle Rd, Regina SK, S4S 4X1. Attention: Lynda and Lisa. The closing date for application submissions is Friday, December 7th, 2018. Thank you for your interest, only applicants selected for interviews will be contacted.
