May Crowning

Fifteen of our First Communicants, dressed in

their communion outfits, celebrated the

Blessed Mother at our May Crowning event on

May 5 after the 12:30pm Mass. The First

Communicants each carried a carnation as

they processed around the church. Julianna

Ruddy, escorted by James Mazzola and John

Paul Wasiliewski, carried the crown of flowers.

A decade of the rosary was prayed, meditating

on the 5th Glorious Mystery, “The Coronation

of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven

and Earth”. The Blessed Mother was crowned

by Julianna Ruddy, assisted by recently

Confirmed student Gianna Wasiliewski. Then,

all the children placed their carnations in

vases at the foot of the Blessed Mother.

It is because of our parishioners’ continual con-cern, kindness, and compassion for those less for-tunate that allows the parish outreach the privi-lege of extending a helping hand to others. Thank you for all you do to make the food pantry the success it is.

Ministry of Consolation

The most valuable gifts we can give are those that come from the heart. The precious gifts of our time, love, and compassion are especially needed during the time of the loss of a loved one. Created to provide warmth, caring, and personal atten-tion to assist families in preparation for the funeral Mass, this particular ministry can never have too many helping hands. Whether your interest be that of a Greeter, Lector, or EM, please give some though as to sharing your time and talents and being a part of this ministry’s call to love and care for one another. If you are considering volunteering for Ministry of Consolation and have questions about doing so or questions about what each position entails, please call the Parish Outreach at 516-541-1260. I would be happy to speak to anyone considering joining this group of wonderful volunteers that already belong to this Min-istry.

“We Care” Blankets

As our wonderful group of “Care Blanket” volunteers continue to meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00-11:30am at Parish Outreach, the gifts of their love, time and talent in crocheting and knitting beautiful blankets for seriously ill children is nothing less than a beautiful thing!

Since our group began in November 2009, the com-pleted blanket count as of April 24 stands at 3,642. The “We Care Blankets” association has run in to some financial difficulty lately and have not been able to deliver yarn to our group that meet here at Our Lady of Lourdes. We would appreciate any dona-tions of 100% acrylic yarn so that this special group of ladies can continue their ministry. Donations can be dropped off at the Parish Outreach Office. Thank you!

"Whatever you do to the least of these, you do to Me."
