Dear Parishioners,
One of the aspects of the Gospel today is a warning about greed. We think of greed in terms of wealth or money, but we can be greedy in other ways as well. Being selfish in someway or perhaps wanting to do the activities with others that you want to do. As Jesus reminds us store up those things that provide us with the treasures God gives. This week Masses for the Feast of the Assumption are as follows. Our Lady of Lourdes Wednesday August 14th Mass at 6:30 pm and Thursday morning August 15th at 9:15 am. St. Bernadette two Masses on Thursday August 15th, 8:15 am and 6 pm. Next weekend at both Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette a priest representing Unbound will be speaking about that Groups work. Many of you are familiar with this organization but those who haven’t heard this will be a good chance to expand one’s out look and out reach. God Bless,
Fr. Dave

Stewardship Bulletin Reflection: August 11, 2019 Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Wis. 18:6-9; Ps 33; Heb 11: 1-2, 8-19; Lk 12:32-48 Whether you are just beginning your
stewardship journey or have been living a
stewardship way of life for years, today’s
readings invite us to ask ourselves an
important question to ponder.
The questions is this: “What do you treasure?”
Of course, we all know the “right” answer: we
treasure our faith, our family, and our
friendships. But Jesus tells us in the Gospel
passage from Luke how we can discover the
real answer to this question. He says, “For
where your treasure is, there also will your
heart be.”
To discern what we really treasure, we need to
do a check on our hearts. We can each ask ourselves, “Where do I spend the
majority of my energy? Where do I find my thoughts dwelling? How do I choose
to spend my time when I find myself with a few spare moments? What do my
spending habits reveal about my what is important to me?
As Christian stewards, we are called to live our lives in grateful response to all
that God has given us. Do I recognize and treasure these gifts?

Quotations of St. Clare Feast Day: August 11
“Look, look on Jesus, poor and
crucified, look on this Holy One,
Who for your love has died, and
remember as you contemplate the
sacred mysteries, this Jesus Whom
you gaze upon, loves you most
tenderly.”
“Melancholy is the poison of devotion. When one is in
tribulation, it is necessary to be more happy and more joyful
because one is nearer to God.”
“Place your mind before the mirror of eternity! Play your soul
in the brilliance of glory! And transform your entire being into
the image of the Godhead Itself through contemplation.”
“Meditate assiduously on the mysteries of His Passion and
on the pains that His Blessed Mother suffered at the foot of the
Cross.”
“Happy the soul to whom it is given to attain this life with
Christ, to cleave with all one’s heart to Him Whose beauty all
the heavenly hosts behold forever, Whose love inflames our
love, the contemplation of Whom is our refreshment, Whose
graciousness is our delight, Whose gentleness fills us to
overflowing, Whose remembrance makes us glow with
happiness, Whose fragrance revives the dead, the glorious
vision of Whom will be the happiness of all the citizens of the
heavenly Jerusalem. For He is the brightness of eternal glory,
the splendor of eternal light, the mirror without spot.” “Love totally Him Who gave Himself totally for your love.”
“If you suffer with Him, you will reign with Him. If
you cry with Him, you will have joy with Him. If
you die with Him on the cross of tribulation, you will
possess the eternal dwelling place in the splendor of
the saints, and your name, written in the book of life,
will be glorious among men.”
