proclaim His Gospel, and to love one
another as He loves us. We are a welcoming community of faith,
guided by the Holy Spirit and centered on God’s Word and the
Eucharist.
Through the Sacraments, prayer, and the stewardship of our
God-given gifts, we provide opportunities to grow closer to God and

Our Lady of Hope This Week
WE ARE TO TAKE UP OUR CROSS EACH DAY
AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST
Today’s Gospel emphasizes what is required to fol-low Christ. We
must set aside our selfish desires and take up our cross each day
to help build up the kingdom of God. This involves sacrifice.
Rather than conforming to what is popular in our present age, we
must strive to do what is good and pleas-ing to the Lord each
day.
2017 FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications
LITURGY OF THE WORD
The first reading tells of the inner struggles Jere-miah
experienced in being faithful to God’s call to serve as a prophet.
The second reading exhorts us to lead lives that are holy and
pleasing to God. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that all who desire
to lie as one of His disciples must take up their cross and follow
Him.
2017 FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications
STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT FOR THE TWENTY–
SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In today’s second reading, St. Paul exhorts the Ro-mans to total
stewardship. Brothers and sisters, he urges, “...offer your bodies
as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”

University of America. Every dollar given direct-ly supports aid
for students from dioceses across the country, including our
diocese. Please be gen-erous.
**The church office will be closed on Monday,
