It exists to make sure there are funds for the national activities of the Church, such as having premises in London for Catholic offices, Press office, liaison between all the bishops, staff for handling things like national Catholic guidance on the pandemic (We’ve had reams of useful notes from them!), meeting facilities for the London gatherings of our 30+ bishops. BOX IN PORCH LABELLED “CATHOLIC TRUST” Some of you have already handed in envelopes for this – thank you. WEEKDAYS– see back page for time and place of Mass, and intentions.. CARING FOR OUR COMMON HOME From 1 Sept to 4 Oct we celebrate the season of Creation. Cafod invites us to pray particularly the novena to St. Francis of Assisi. https://cafod.org.uk/Pray/Prayer- resources/Novena-to-St-Francis It’s a song of penitence, as well as praise, guiding us to care for the earth and for our most vulnerable sisters and brothers, especially just now in the Amazon region. “CREATION TIME” – time to make some good resolutions about creation ? Let us pray: For all who are close to death, that they may be in the grace of God. For those who cannot even buy the food they and their children need. For people and races and groups who are oppressed by cruel rulers or people of power. For ourselves, that we may be made aware of our own prejudices, even as we see what others should do For those who have authority, such as the police in every country, that they may have respect for all the people. “For you my soul is thirsting, O Lord my God.” (Psalm Response) God entices us (“seduces us”) and we are swept off our feet, says the prophet Jeremiah. The trouble is, following Hm involves the Cross, so we’d often rather escape, run away from God. But, what- ever way we go, He is there, waiting to lure us back. We need Him, but “love me, love my Cross”. “Follow Me, follow Me, leave your fishing nets and boats upon the shore.” “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him take up his cross and follow me.” Mt. 16:25
