INTRODUCTION

As one of the oldest European nations, Poland has one of the most diverse, historical background. Its timeline, peppered with successes and losses, achievements and failures is sometimes overlooked by the young generation. This presentation has been created nearly to show off the fragment of its abundant timeline.

CHRISTIANIZATION OF POLAND (966)

Thanks to Mieszko the First, Poland has become a country that has evolved from the pagan stadium and has become a christian kingdom that would now be recognized by Europe of that time. This has given our country a chance for proper development.

CONGRESS OF GNIEZNO (1000)A meeting of Emperor, Otto III with the Polish duke Bolesław, raised our country into the high rank , allowing us to play an important role in the Medieval Europe.

BATTLE OF GRUNWALD (1410)The biggest battle of Medieval period, between the Polish-Lithuanian forces against the Teutonic knights, resulted in defeat of Teutonics and breaking down their reign on the territories of Pomerania

UNION OF LUBLIN (1569)Resulted in creating a single state which was a Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, allowing both countries to strenghten themselves and becoming the one the major figures in Eastern Europe.

BATTLE OF VIENNA (1683)Battle between the Ottoman Empire and combined Polish-Austrian forces, resulted in the defeat of Ottoman forces, symbolizing the suppressing of Muslim expansion.

THE DOWNFALL OF POLAND (1795)The act of partition by Russia, Prussia and Austria, symbolized the end of Polish state for the next 123 years. During that time, the Polish nation would fight for its independence.

REBIRTH OF THE POLISH STATE (1918)The regain of independence was „a dream come true” moment for the Polish nation as finally, the Poles could create their own state with their own administration, independent from the three occupators.

POLISH-BOLSHEVIK WAR (1920)A war between a freshly established Polish state between the Bolshevik Russia. During the so-called „A miracle on the Vistula”, the bolshevik troops were pushed away from the Warsaw and symbolized the stopped the spread of communism to Europe.

CONCLUSION

There are many more events that also had a significant impact on Poland and on the Europe as well. Why didn’t I put some more noted events in between those that I had already presented? That entirely depends on you, the viewer. If you want to find out more about the history of Poland, go for it, start digging in the world of the past, as it has always some fascinating in it.
