is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. ~ Amen.

FIRST THOUGHT
Most Church boats don’t like to be rocked; they prefer to lie at anchor
rather than go places on stormy seas. But that’s because we Christians
view the Church as the object of our love instead of the subject and
instrument of God’s. Faith cannot be passive: it has to go forth – to
assault the conscience, excite the imagination.
~ William Slone Coffin
One: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Reveal Your presence to us, O God
All: As we gather here to worship You
One: Show us the ways You would have us take
All: And give us courage for every day of life
One: Inspire us to do good in Your world
All: And to be Your voice speaking love into every life
One: Come, let us worship God with hymns of praise and the service of
our lives
OPENING HYMN “O Christ, the Great Foundation” [443]
*PRAYER OF THE DAY
WELCOME
Welcome! Whoever you are, wherever you come from and whatever you have
done or failed to do, welcome to this place where we celebrate the love of
God and are inspired by the hospitality of Jesus Christ. May you find God’s
love, peace and grace as we worship together.
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Larry Dickerson
Dear God, as the risen Christ spoke to the disciples and called them to
proclaim Your love to the ends of the earth, so You call us. We confess
that we have been deaf to Your call, blind to Your leading and hesitant
to trust You. Our faith has been frail and efforts have been weak. Our
service has been half-hearted and we have let opportunities pass us by.
(Continued on page 11)
(Continued on page 2)
Forgive us for being slow to follow and quick to judge. Open our
hearts and lives to Your transforming love and healing forgiveness,
show us the way You would have us go and give us the strength of
Your presence to be our companion. ~ Amen
(Let us continue to pray in silence.)
