Quick Tips COMPLETE YOUR APPOINTMENT BY OCTOBER 31, 2019
4 Don’t delay! Schedule your appointment today. It can take up to six weeks to get in to see your doctor.
4 Contact BCBSTX online at BCBSTX.com or by calling 1-877-262-7977 to confirm your doctor is in-network or to locate a new one. Note: CMC covers your in-network physical at 100%. Out-of-network annual physicals are not covered but they count toward the requirement.
WHEN SCHEDULING YOUR VISIT
4 If it’s been less than a year since your last in-network annual physical, you can still make an appointment — you are covered for one in-network annual physical per calendar year (not a rolling 12 months).
4 When you make your appointment, be sure to schedule your annual physical exam. Make sure the exam is coded correctly. If your doctor’s office uses a code that is tied to “Preventive Health,” your visit will count as an annual physical.
4 If your doctor sends you to another location to get blood work or other tests done, coding is key. You need to verify the facility and services performed are in-network and are coded as part of the annual physical in order for the charges to be paid at 100%.
CHECK YOUR EXPLANATION OF BENEFITS (EOB) AND KEEP A COPY OF THE ITEMIZED STATEMENT FOR YOUR RECORDS
4 Tracking is claims-driven and coding is key. Check your EOB to make sure your claim was processed correctly to avoid the surcharge. It can take from two to four weeks for a visit to be processed and posted on BCBSTX.com.
4 Go to BCBSTX.com to check your EOB. On your EOB look for the words “Physical History” as the description of services. This is how BCBSTX refers to annual physical exams and seeing it on your EOB will mean your visit was processed and coded correctly.
4 Contact BCBSTX at 1-877-262-7977 if you have questions about your claims.
