Beach-An area of land covered in sand next to water

Continental shelves- A part of a continent that extends underwater

Plateau- a flat piece of land that is higher than the land around it, at least on one side

and often cut by deep canyons

Mountains- a large piece of land formed but the plates rubbing together, it is bigger than a hill

Mountain ridge- the edge of a mountain or cliff

Ice cap- a plate of ice or snow that covers a large area

Fault- a crack in the earth’s crust

Canyons- a deep valley with steep sides, formed by a river or stream

Sand dunes- a ridge of sand created by wind, found in deserts, or near beaches

Body of water

• A collection of water like an ocean, lake, river, pond… Some bodies of water are man made (like ponds, harbors…), but most are naturally occurring landforms.
