• He was born in 15th february 1976 in Torrelavega (Cantabria).

• He is a Spanish professional road bicycle racer.

• Freire lives in Switzerlandbut he loves Torrelavega because it is the place where he was born.

• He is one of the top sprinters in road bicycle racing . He won Milan - San Remo three times.

His nickname is ‘The Cat, Óscarito.’

• Freire became professional in 1998 with Vitalicio Seguros.

• His grandmother was called Maria and she worked in Firestone.

• He has got wife and a 5-years-old son .

In 2003,Freire moved to Rabobank, where in his first season he won six races.

• In 2006, Freire won his second consecutive Brabantse Pijl . He won three times at Tirreno– Adriatico. It allowed him to lead for two days.
