CHAPTER 1
� ुज़ ल�य / OBJECTIVES OF THE CRUISE
The cruise SK 346 is dedicated to retrieval and deployment of 7
OMNI buoys and 1 Tsunami buoy system in Bay of Bengal. The cruise
team onboard ORV Sagar Kanya on 19th February 2018 from Tuticorin
to 27th March 2018 Chennai to expedite and to complete this
task.

CHAPTER 4
CRUISE SUMMARY
The cruise operation was arranged by OOS, NIOT during Feb 2018
to deployment and
retrieval of MET, WAVE, Tsunami buoy systems. Cruise team sailed
from Tuticorin port on 19th Feb
2018 onboard ORV Sagar Kanya (SN-346). Team reached each buoy
location on the respective dates
(given in the table) and buoy deployment and retrieval
operations were successfully carried out.

chapter describes the details of day to activities carried out

passport and medical certificate

the materials were properly lashed in deck and updated to the
Master and chief officer. 03:00 Hrs CT sensors cleaning work 05:00

Mounted the Capstan winch on deck and tested the operational
performance. CT sensors Cleaning and change new batter for BD14

Vessel started sailing towards BD14 location. All the
participants attended the ship safety drill conducted by the Master
BD 12 buoy CT sensors Cupper Guard cleaning and fixed the
sensors.

Scientific team meeting with Master and ship officials about cruise

Rooted the Mast cable and sensor arm. Anti vandal flange was
fixed. Initiated the BD14 & BD 12 INSAT and CLS ARGO
testing.

Assembled sensors on frames. ADCP cable was rooted through
protection hose. Checked the met sensors and CT, DVS and ADCP for
BD 08. Induction cable marking was done for BD 12 buoy.
26 – February – 2018
09:00 Hrs Visual Inspection of Glass floats for BD 14 & BD
12 (Total 12 Nos) Glass floats 06 numbers were assembled with 7.5 m
length chain.

BPR battery changed. Cleaned the CT sensors for BD 08 buoy. The
BD 08 buoy onboard testing was initiated. Changed the BPR battery.
Checked the OBM and Boat. The OBM performance was checked.
27 – February – 2018
09:00 Hrs Cupper guard and nylon bush was assembled with CT

Upper mast painting work. Fixed the radar reflector and CT
sensor mounted on hull. BD 14 buoy ID and NIOT logo was painted on
buoy hull and hood. CT sensors 1 m and 5 m was fixed on the keel
frame and ADCP frame.

BD 12 buoy was shifted to aft and started the assembly work.
Cable was routed through upper mast and sensor arm. ADCP cable was
routed through the flexible hose. Hood was fixed to the hull. DVS
and 0.45 m CT sensor was fixed on the PVC frame. Glass floats were
fixed on the 7.5 m chain Anti vandal flange, radar reflector and
becon lamp was fixed on the sensor arm. Mooring hardware was fixed
up to ADCP frame.

ADCP was fixed on the frame. Solar panel was opened and routed
the cable. CT sensor 1 m was fixed on the keel frame. Induction
cable was marked for CT sensor mounting. Retrieved BD 14 was
shifted to balloon deck. Shifted the ropes from balloon deck to aft
deck. New anode was fixed on the acoustic release.

As per the direction of SCI, the ship heading towards Port Blair
for repairing of RO plant. The ship heading towards Port Blair was
informed to office by Chi.Sci Tsunami pipe and keel frame was
cleaned and fixed the anodes Started the TB09 buoy assembly work
Completed the TB09 buoy mechanical assembly work. Upper mast and
sensor arm was connected and fixed the modem. Ship reached to Port
Blair. The ship was drifting due to non availability of berth at
port.

Cleaned the keel weight and keel frame for BD 09 buoy. Fixed the
anodes on keel weight Keel weight assembly was interfaced with the
main BD09 buoy system. Started ship from drifting to inside port.
The ship was anchored at port inner anchorage area.

Started the Cleaning work of the ADCP frame. Completed the
cleaning and started the painting work. Prepared the pre-deployment
sheet for TB09 and sent to office. Ropes and other materials were
shifted from port side to deck inner side Cleaning of CT
sensors.
