CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES GOALS OF THE AES DEPARTMENT & PROGRAM

The AES department has made changes for Semester 2 to accomdoate the new changes made to the students class schedules most notably grade 7. Please be sure to check and refer regularly to the calendar when the athletics trimester seasons begin and end. We have also provided a variety of new activities under the ‘Pass’ system that will aid in the overall development of our students in Semester 2. Participation in extra-curricular activities will provide students with a significant opportunity to become involved with other students and their coaches in an educational experience that takes place outside of the classroom while respecting traditional French/American traditions and customs.

JOURNALISM 1 (6TH-8TH) | MONDAYFor creative, talented and active high school students, getting involved in the school newspaper is an excellent outlet. It will give you a chance to develop your ideas, run a column, and to apply your leadership skills while also exercising your critical thinking, designing and writing skills in a team environment. Students looking to improve their mastery of the English language, to refine their love of literature and theatre into a tangible product, or to simply enjoy the experience of creating fascinating stories, Creative Writing Club is for you!

ARDUINO PROGRAMMING - BEGINNERS & ADVANCED (6TH-12TH) | WEDNESDAY | $540Is your child interested in new technologies? Do you want them to master a simple programming environment while working with electronic components while having fun and developing their own projects? This workshop offers it all! Offered by a Biology-Geology teacher who also teaches the new Computer Sciences Terminale S class, this workshop utilizes a hands on a hands-on approach. Goals include learning about the components of the Internet of Things with the Arduino development environment, designing, making, testting and modifying programmable electronic circuits, designing and making their own project, and developing problem solving strategies. Arduino is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to- use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board. (source: www.arduino.cc)
