Understanding the Orion Voice Service

✦ Orion clients begin streaming voice communications in real-time as soon as the user presses the talk button (Onyx or soft button in app). Orion is NOT a “record and forward” service.

✦ Orion uses its own low-latency “streaming” protocol together with a cutting-edge content distribution network (CDN). This makes streams available to all users in a group within milliseconds. It also enables Orion groups to scale to an essentially infinite number of users.


Connectivity and Security

SECURITY

✦ Message traffic is fully encrypted from Onyx device to Onyx device

✦ AES 256-bit encryption keys for highest level of security (FIPS 140-2 compliant)

✦ Data packets never at rest (stored), but instead pass through the Orion platform

CONNECTIVITY

✦ Onyx pairs with iOS or Android devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)✦ Dedicated data channel, lower battery

Start with Your Admin Portal:Primary home of every “organization” within the Orion cloud platform. Add users, create groups, establish leaders, add/remove bots, much more.

Add Your Users:Single view of all users within your Orion organization. Each user has their own profile with visibility on all activity within Orion. Upload avatars to personalize each user’s experience.

Create Your Groups:Single view of all groups created within your Orion organization. See all activity within each group, add/remove users from groups, add/remove bots and more. Upload avatars to personalize teams.

[Preview] Maps/Tracking:Coming soon, this feature enabled within the Orion Professional service plan provides real-time location tracking of team members from within the Orion Command Center, telemetry information is presented directly within the browser, offers PTT capabilities from the browser, and more.

GroupAll conversations by creating a group in the Orion app. Create an unlimited number of groups with an unlimited number of users (Pro feature)

Joining a GroupThe member list shows who has joined the group.

Blue - Listening, and can send/receive messages
