Technical Support 1) On a school computer: Submit a Help Desk request

Click on the HelpDesk Icon on the computer desktop. This will log you into the Mountain Heights Academy Help Desk. Click Submit a Request to submit a new request or View Your Service History to view the status of current requests.

Complete the fields; please be as detailed as possible. Include phone numbers and the best time/day to contact you.

The HelpDesk automatically takes a screenshot of the desktop when the ticket is generated. Click the box to include the screenshot. You can also attach any other screenshot or file to the ticket for additional documentation of the issue.

2) On a personal computer: Email [email protected]

Include a description of the issue and detailed contact information, including phone numbers and the best time/day to contact you. Please be aware that we do not provide network or hardware support for personal computers.

Accessing and Navigating your Courses 1. Go to www.mountainheightsacademy.org. Click on Login.

2. Log in with your username and password

Student usernames are typically in the format: firstname.lastname (ex. wendy.smith) The default student password is: student Parent usernames are in the format: parent.studentusername (ex. parent.wendy.smith) The default parent password is: student Please note that if you lose or forget your password, you will have to contact the main office to have it reset. 3. You will now be logged into your Genius SIS Dashboard. Click on "Go to Courses" to open the Mountain Heights Academy Moodle site. To access your courses, click on the "My Courses" tab on the Moodle site. Clicking on a course name will take you to that course.

4. Each course will have important course information at the top of the page. It will include the teacher's contact information, a link to the course syllabus, and weekly office hours. The course will be separated into Weeks, or Folders. Each folder will be labeled with the dates of the assigned lessons/assignments. Clicking on a folder will open it and show all the week's content.

5. You can choose to view all the folders at once, or one week at a time. To view one week at a time, click the focus window icon in the upper right corner of the topic. This will take you to the single topic view.

When you are in single topic view, you can use the 'jump list' to navigate between topics/weeks. You can always return to the full view by clicking the focus window icon in the upper right corner of the topic.

When you are inside each course, you can access your grades by clicking the Grades link in the far right column. You can also view your grades within Genius SIS.

You can click arrow button to minimize the blocks on the left side of the course; this will allow you to have more space to view your courses

You can also "dock" blocks on the right side of the course page. To do this, click the 'dock button' in the corner of each block. This will send the block to the right side dock bar. To undock the block, just click on the dock button again.

Genius SIS: Change your Password Please change your default password. Follow the steps below. 1. Go to www.mountainheightsacademy.org. Click on Login. It will take you to the login screen.

2. Log in with your username. 4. Change your password by entering your old password and new password. Click SAVE. Log out of Genius SIS and log back in again using your new password.

Genius SIS: Tracking Grades 1. To check your current grades, log in to Genius SIS by going to www.mountainheightsacademy and clicking

2. Click on Gradebook on the left side of the Genius Dashboard.

3. You will see a tab for each one of your current of all assignments, grades, date of completion and teacher feedback.

4. To see overall course grades, click on "Academic Snapshot". It will list course grades for all of your classes. Keep in mind that grades in Genius SIS are updated each evening; submitted work will not be reflected in the grade until the following day.

Genius SIS: Tracking Activity 1. To track your course activity (time logged in courses), log in to Genius SIS by going to www.mountainheightsacademy and clicking Login

2. Click on Student Activity on the left side of the Genius SIS Dashboard.

3. You can choose to track activity by day, week, or month. After choosing the date criteria, click Get Data

4. Minutes spent in each class, for each day, are displayed.

Setting Up Your Google Apps Google Apps are an important tool at Mountain Heights Academy. Your email, instant messaging, and documents will all be based in Google Apps. Each student is given a school Google Apps account. You will need to connect your Mountain Heights Academy Google Apps account to your Moodle account. Before doing this, be sure to have logged out of any other personal Gmail or Google apps account you may have accessed. Google Apps may not recognize your Mountain Heights credentials if it is still associating you with a personal Gmail account. We recommend using Chrome browser for accessing your school courses and Google apps and an alternate browser (Firefox or Internet Explorer) for accessing personal Gmail or Google apps accounts. If you are ever unable to access your Mountain Heights Academy Google Apps, clear your browser cache or reboot your computer, then try again. 1. Log in to the Mountain Heights Academy Moodle site. 2. Click on My Email

A Google Accounts page will display, welcoming you to your new account. Confirm that it is connecting you to your Mountain Heights Academy Google Apps user account, which will be in the following format: [email protected] Type the characters you see and click "I accept. Continue to my account.”

Using Google Docs 1. Click on My Docs This will open your school Google Docs account

2. Click on "Create New" and then choose "Document"

3. This will open a new Google document. You can rename the document by clicking on "Untitled Document" and renaming it 4. You can share the document. Click on Share. Be sure to verify that the document has the setting People at Mountain Heights Academy who have the link can view. To share the document, copy the Link to Share. Keep in mind that your teachers will often want you to change the sharing settings to Allow anyone with the link to edit before you submit the assignment. Read all assignment instructions carefully to determine the type of sharing settings your teacher is requiring

Sound, Mic and Webcam Troubleshooting Audio/Video Troubleshooting Video Tutorial Google Chat Video/Audio Steps

• Click on the Gear Icon in the upper right hand corner of the Gmail screen • Choose Settings • The settings window will open. You open in the general settings by default. There is a horizontal list of

options, including "General, Labels, Accounts, Filters, Forwarding and POP/IMAP, Chat". Click 'Chat' • Now there are options stacked vertically, including "My Chat History" and the "Voice and Video Chat". Click

the "+ Verify your settings" in the Voice & Video chat area. • Students should see themselves in the video that is now showing. If not, then they need to change their

camera default device in the drop down field. • Students should be able to see the mic meter move when they talk. If not, then they need to change their

microphone default device in the drop down field. • Students should be able to hear the test sound when they click the 'test sound' link. If not, they need to

change their speakers default device in the drop down field. • Be sure to click "Save Changes" (at bottom of page) before returning to email.

Volume Mixer

• Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, and then click 'Volume Mixer'. Check that none of the devices in that list are muted or set to 0 volumes.

CACHE: Clearing the Browser Cache Clear the cache in Firefox: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20clear%20the%20cache

1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then click Options 2. Select the Privacy Tab 3. Click on the Clear Your Recent History 4. Check the Cache box and then click Clear Now.

Clear the cache in Chrome: http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95582

1. Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar. 2. Select Tools. 3. Select Clear browsing data. 4. In the dialog that appears, select the checkbox for cache. 5. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time to

delete everything. 6. Click Clear browsing data.

You can also just turn off and then restart your computer to clear the browser cache.
