Microbiological agents are: bacteria, virus or fungi. Penetration testing is required for all gloves claiming micro-organisms protection; the test method required are EN ISO 374-2:2014, air-leak and water-leak. The possibility of claiming protection against viruses was added, if the glove passes ISO 16604: 2004 (method B) test. Two classifications: Class Protection New Marking Protection against bacteria and fungi For gloves offering protection against bacteria and fungi. Larger numbers of cycles indicate greater abrasion resistance. ASTM D3389-10 is used for coated gloves and the end point (failure) is the number of abrasion cycles when the film or coating is worn through. ASTM D3884-09 is used for uncoated gloves and the end point is the number of abrasion cycles when the first threat or yarn is broken. Note: Same with the ANSI Cut, the new abrasion levels will have an “A” listed in front of them in order to differentiate it from the old ones.
