It has been such a privilege growing and experiencing all that the society has to offer. As one of my last President's Corneris be- ing created many thoughts are flowing through my head. From my first Christmas Party in ‘12 where I felt so out of place going, but how my feelings changed as I got there and all the nerves turned to freedom and fun, gambling for some new orchids to take home. HA! I have so many great memories, I wish i could share them all. Another favorite of mine was the first plant order we opened at my house for the February aucon in ‘13. It was kinda like Christmas, just renng the plants for awhile and keeping them safe unl our meeng where they would be bid on. The only reason I could keep them is because my collecon was only about 20-30 plants at the me. Im excited for the new officers to come on board and bring some fresh ideas to the society. We will connue to grow if we all can help out now and then. We really need some people to step up for our big Fall Sale. We are bringing a lot of plants in from Hawaii and need support selling them as well as memberships to the newbies. We have some two hour slots open for volunteering at the show and hope to get to know a few of you a lile beer. Lets all bring a plant in for show and tell as well as a friend to show and tell as well. Come on people I know there are more orchid lovers in Palm Beach County and we need to meet them. See you all soon! Your President - Jacob Galeski Linda Grecco and Gloria Kennedy enjoying orchids from Tony Romani, R&R Orchids, at the October meeng.

Marty Cianfrone...Remembering A Member & Friend

Brenda, Cecy, Charline, Jacob, Shannon and myself attended the Celebration

of Life for our member and friend Marty Cianfrone, who passed away on Oc-

tober 16th. The reception room was overflowing; standing room only, with

friends and family. There were many tears but there was laughter too as

everyone came together to remember this very special lady.

Marty and Frank were married for 54 years and have 2 sons; Bob who lives in

Santa Monica, CA. and John, who resides here in Palm Beach Gardens. Frank

has been a member of OSPB for many years but it has only been a short time,

a year or two, since he convinced Marty to come along to the meetings with

him. I will say that although she was not as mesmerized by orchids as most of us are, she did enjoy coming

along to interact with the people and it wasn’t long before she volunteered to take on the duties of hopitali-

ty chairperson.

Marty’s entire career was in banking. She worked for First Federal of W. Palm Beach where she served as

Vice-President/Bank Center Coordinator, where she was responsible for 20 branches, their facilities and

staff; until her retirement in 1998. Throughout the years she was active in many community organizations.

She served as president of the following organizations; Zonta Intl. of Lake Worth, Palm Springs Merchant

Assoc., and Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce. She was a graduate of Leadership of Palm Beach County

and chair of The Visiting Nurse Assoc. Marty also volunteered many hours in her church ministries at Holy

Name of Jesus Church.

Marty was very organized in everything she did. The priest recounted how she left a folder with all the de-

tailed, financial information so even Frank could figure it out and how she wrote her own obituary and also

tucked it in a file. She always assumed that Frank would be the first to go. Her plan was to have everyone

at the wake take home an orchid plant......and I quote from her obituary, “Marty’s greatest happiness came

from her family and friends and the wonderful experiences of volunteering in church and community’.

Our hearts go out to Frank at this very difficult time of healing. Your orchid family shares in your sorrow.

She was a ‘Special Lady’. I only wish I’d had more time to get to know her better.
