The Board plans to review options to address all the issues as part of the 2016 budget discussion. Fiscal Year Changes – a Reminder The Board approved, changing our current fiscal year of October 1 – September 30 to a Calendar Year (January – December). The change will: 1) Make budgeting easier, and 2) Permit the Board Meeting at which the budget is voted on to take place in October or November when there are more owners present. In order to make this change, we will need to have a separate, stand-alone budget and assessment for the last three months of 2015. Owners will receive a timely mailing from our property manager, Justin Gonzalez, detailing the October – December 2015 budget and corresponding dues assessment, prior to (Continued on next page)

Pool
Recently, some of our full-time-resident owners have contacted Board members with concerns about pool area and pool furniture cleanliness and maintenance. Some examples of concerns:
• Pool details need cleaning, such as the white railings around the pool – there is mold on the railings and some of the chairs.
• Chairs are stained and need deep-cleaning, re-strapping, or replacement.

The Board will budget separately for the 2016 calendar year (January-December), financed by the usual four quarterly assessments. The 2016 budget meeting will occur in late October. Owners will receive notification by mail with the proposed 2016 budget and the date, time, and location of the Board meeting to adopt that budget. The meeting date and time will also be displayed on both bulletin boards.
Investments
We will decide at budget time how to proceed with investment changes. Seeking advice from Argus Management’s accountant, we will look again at one-yr. deals on bank CD’s.
If the Board were to recommend purchase of CD’s that mature in three or more years, it will require approval by the membership at a special meeting with two weeks prior notice to the membership.

Rules and Regulations (R&R)
A final draft will be prepared and sent to the owners at least two weeks prior to the October Board meeting. If approved at that meeting, the new R&R would take effect 30 days later.
DID YOU KNOW?
Recycling
Manatee County has changed the day for recycling pick up from Tuesdays to Wednesdays, beginning August 19th. Manatee County Utilities requests your recycle bin be at the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.
Road Construction
Construction on 1-75 begins August 3rd to convert the University Parkway interchange to the new diverging diamond design. Information on I-75 upgrades between Fruitville Road and University Parkway is available at the FDOT website.
Information on I-75 upgrades from University Parkway to SR 64 (including reconstruction of the I-75/SR 70 interchange) is also available on this page of the FDOT website.
Tara Boulevard was recently repaved between Tara Preserve Lane and Stone River Road.

The Manatee County CodeRED Emergency Notification System provides the public with the ability to receive voice, text, and/or email emergency notifications generated by government and public safety officials.

The secure, customized Community Notification Enrollment (CNE) web page allows residents and businesses to add or update their contact information to ensure they will be included when a message is sent. Unlisted numbers, mobile numbers, and TDD/TTY requirements can all be entered.

Joan’s Famous Goulash
From Dave Loskota (his Mom’s recipe)
Preparation time: 15 minutes; serves 4 – 6
Ingredients
• 1 cup elbow macaroni • 1 medium onion • 1 lb. hamburger • 1 ½ tsp. salt • ¼ - ½ tsp. pepper (to taste) • ¾ tsp. chili powder • 1 (16 oz.) can baked beans (yes, baked beans!) • 1 (10 oz.) can Campbell's tomato soup • ¼ cup water (from rinsing the soup & bean cans)
Brown the hamburger, pour off the grease, and transfer the meat to a casserole dish. Dice and fry onion in oil; add to hamburger. Add macaroni to boiling water, cook for 7 minutes, and drain. Add to hamburger, along with all the rest of the ingredients.
Mix thoroughly with a spoon, cover and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. In the alternative, microwave on high for 15 – 20 minutes, stirring 2 – 3 times. Eat with peanut buttered bread!
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
