Oracle EBS R12.2 Upgrade FAQs 1. Do I have to upgrade to Oracle EBS R12? At the end of November 2013 Oracle EBS 11.5.10 extended support expired and customers deciding to remain on 11i will need to pay addional fees for support and ensure they have all the latest recommended patches. 2. Should I upgrade to 12.1.3 or 12.2? What are the major differences? Oracle EBS 12.2 will have a longer life and upgrading to this version will reduce the number of upgrades you will need over ensuing years. Addional features provided by 12.2 include online patching and easier integraon with Fusion applicaons. 3. What new features and benefits can my users expect from the upgrade? Oracle’s EBS 12.2 will help you provide users with high availability by allowing patches to be installed without downme and with no interrupon to users. With this latest release, Oracle has also improved integraon with Oracle Fusion Applicaons and in some cases will only release this enhanced integraon in R12.2 and later versions. 4. What do I need to do to prepare for an upgrade? Contact Apps Associates when you have a customer opportunity for: • To get ready for an R12 upgrade, organizaons need to clean up data currently in their GL (General Ledger), AP (Accounts Payable), and AR (Accounts Receivable) interface tables. We recommend that all transacons are in the GL interface table before the upgrade is started. • Users also need to understand all their CEMLI objects and eliminate old ones that are no longer used. • Users can reduce the R12 upgrade me by ensuring they are on database version 11g prior to the R12 upgrade. • Certain patches are required prior to the upgrade and these patches can be applied in 11i before the R12 upgrade begins. 5. Is there a direct upgrade path to 12.2 or do you need to upgrade to 12.1.3 first? There is a direct upgrade path available from 11.5.10.2 to 12.2
