INTRODUCTION Plug-in Hybrid-Electric Vehicles (PHEV) is hybrids with high-capacity batteries that can be charged by plugging them into an electrical outlet or charging station. They can store enough electricity from the power grid to significantly reduce their petroleum consumption under typical driving conditions.

Lithium ion battery adalahBaterai ion litium (biasa disebut Baterai Li-ion atau LIB) adalah salah satu anggota keluarga baterai isi ulang. Di dalam baterai ini, ion litium bergerak dari elektroda negatif ke elektroda positif saat dilepaskan, dan kembali saat diisi ulang. Baterai Li-ion memakai senyawa litium interkalasi sebagai bahan elektrodanya, berbeda dengan litium metalik yang dipakai di baterai litium non-isi ulang.

Ultracapacitor adalah kapasitor dengan nilai kapasitansi yang lebih besar daripada jenis lain yang tersedia saat ini kapasitor.Kapasitansi nilai mencapai hingga 400 farads dalam single standard case size yang tersedia.Super Capacitor memiliki kerapatan tertinggi yang tersedia saat ini kapasitif dengan kerapatan tinggi sehingga kapasitor ini dapat digunakan untuk aplikasi, biasanya digunakan/disediakan untuk baterai. Super Capacitor yang tidak volumetrically eficient dan lebih mahal daripada baterai tetapi memiliki keuntungan lain ,melalui baterai membuat pilihan yang lebih baik dalam aplikasi yang memerlukan sejumlah besar penyimpanan energi untuk disimpan dan disampaikan dalam semburan berulang kali.

Keuntungan Super Capacitor yang paling signifikan memiliki kelebihan dari baterai adalah kemampuan mereka untuk diisi dan dipakai terus menerus tanpa "degrading" seperti baterai. Inilah sebabnya mengapa baterai dan kapasitor super yang digunakan dalam hubungannya dengan satu sama lain.Super Capacitor akan memasok listrik ke sistem ketika ada lonjakan atau semburan energi karena kapasitor super dapat diisi dan dikosongkan dengan cepat sedangkan baterai dapat memasok energi massal karena mereka dapat menyimpan dan memberikan energi jumlah yang lebih besar selama jangka waktu yang lebih lambat dari waktu.

CONCLUSION

• A hybrid arrangement, with a parallel combination of batter- ies and UCs, can significantly reduce the volume and weight of the overall EV ESS. Furthermore, overall battery life can be drastically improved due to the decrease in the output current. In addition, a hybrid energy storage arrangement enhances the temperature adaptability and may also simplify the over- all energy management strategy. This paper has also examined level-1, level-2, and level-3 charging schemes for the optimally designed ESS of the PEV. It was shown that compared with level-3, level-1 and level-2 schemes result in longer charging times but higher charging efficiency values.
