Ed Pieper, owner Phone: 970-554-1254 Sale conducted by Michal Auction Service Jim: 719-349-4446 Jake: 970-420-2509 Notice is hereby given that a proposed budget has been submitted to the RE-1 Board of Education for the ensuing fiscal year of 2016. A copy of such proposed budget has been filed in the Office of the Superintendent, where the same is available for public inspection. Such proposed budget will be considered for adoption at a regular meeting of the RE-1 Valley Board of Education to be held on June 15, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the RE-1 Valley Administration Center, 301 Hagen Street, Sterling, Colorado. Any person paying school taxes in said district may, at any time prior to the final adoption of the budget, file or register their objections thereto. BOARD OF EDUCATION RE-1 Valley School District BJ Ball, Secretary Daughter also believes father deserves an apology Letters Editor: Mr. Scott Tanner, you were right, Social Services does owe that apology! I, Devon E. Welsh, am Kurt Welsh’s oldest child and have been wanting the good people of Sterling to know that changes do need to be made in this town. Not only Social Services, but our district courts also. When I was in the 8 th grade at Darrel Smith High School, the social worker that worked with the school had told my parents that I had autism, and after she made that statement my life changed. I grew up on Taylor Street until I was 15-years-old. At that point I was failing classes in school and everything was becoming really hard, including living with someone in my house that I lived in fear of. This person screamed in my face, would head butt me, kicked me and pulled my hair, and many times chased me out of the house. I would run down the block to get away from the anger and abuse. I know now that one phone call by my neighbor might have stopped my abuse. I believe that neighbor had seen my step-father’s anger and heard the screaming many times. I believe the judge in my father's divorce case is very aware of that situation. What our family has endured in this divorce is parental alienation at its worst. There has been over a dozen false and unfounded reports investigated by the Sterling Police Department and the Department of Social Services. It is sad that my father has to live in fear of his ex-wife’s next allegation. This just shows how bad things really are here in Sterling and within our legal system. Mr. Tanner brought up the fact that after my father put my little sister in Hagen Pre-school with her niece, her mother took her out of school, so my father fi led a motion to get her back in. It is my understanding that the judge put her in school, saying, “I see no reason for her not to be in school and she shall stay in school for as long as she is eligible.” The case was then transferred to a magistrate and gave them an order to hold a hearing to get the facts. It is my understanding the magistrate did not follow orders and took my little sister out of school. She was already in school for a month. No parent in their right mind takes a child out of school. Social Services was ordered to do exchanges between my father and his ex-wife and when they did not comply, we went three months without seeing my sister. Social Services then made my father have supervised visits and by then my sister didn’t even know him. It is our opinion that not enforcing court orders alienated our family after our sister was born. I hope the fine people of this town can see by my letter that I do not have autism, as diagnosed by the social worker in charge of the Darrel Smith High School at that time. Because of that diagnosis my cries to the Department of Social Services fell on deaf ears. Thanks to Judge Leh for listening to myself and my father and giving him full custody of me! I became successful and gradu- ated high school in December of my senior year. I would also like to thank Senior Judge Plotz for seeing my father as the loving, gentle man and caring father that he really is and allowing us the time with our little sister while her mother is at work and every other weekend. We just wish that we had you Mr. Plotz who could see through the other party in this divorce and put a stop to our nightmare. Devon E.
