Product or Line Layout•All processing equipment and machines arranged according to sequence of operation of product.
•Only one product of one type produced in an operating area.
Process or Functional Layout•Useful where low volume of production is necessary.•Machines are arranged according to nature or type of operation.•Commonly suitable for non repetitive job.
Fixed Position Layout
•Least important for today’s manufacturing industries.•Major components remain constant & other resources brought to this location.
Combination Type of Layout
•Now a days pure state of any one form of layout is rarely used.•Every layout has Advantages and limitations. •Hence generally compromise of all three layouts is used.
