INTRODUCTION
We tested trash bags that best suit college students.
OVERVIEW OF OPTIONS AND CRITERIA
From most important to least important criteria:
• Bag strength
• Cost
• Bag space
• Strength of handles
Brands:
TEST 1: COST
• Foremost important
• Reason: College students concerned about finances.
• Cost for 40 bags of each brand.
TEST 2: STRENGTH OR DURABILITY
• Second most important criteria
• Strength refers to how much weight the bag can hold before it rips
• Reason: Bag must hold what’s put into it
• We tested this criteria by two methods:• Filling the bags with gallons of bottled water until they burst.• Filling the bags with water (not bottled) until they burst.
TEST 3: CAPACITY
• Third most important criteria
• Reason: varies the least across different brands.
• All brands claimed to hold 13 gallons of water.
TEST 4: HANDLES
• Least important criteria
• Reason: barely influences a college student’s decision.
• We carried this test out based on if the bags have handles or not and how resistant the handles are.
