Gives students opportunity to experience different views
Can increase interest in the subject
Saves student’s money if it replaces a textbook
Adds media content to improve understanding of lesson
Can be continually improved and updated
CHALLENGES OF OER
Copyright Concerns – check to make sure material is CC Difficult to Find – takes time to find subject area Quality Concerns – anyone can put up a CC, check for
accuracy and quality
Sustainability Concerns – authors may not update material
Skill issues – need for technical skills to incorporate material
Can be frustrating
