What is the difference between academic and advanced academic?

• An advanced academic course has additional course work—more challenging. You receive add on credit which becomes very important as you near graduation-class rank.

• You must have at least an 88% cumulative average at year’s end to take the class.

Math adds up a bit differently…

• If you took Pre-Algebra this year and received a 82% or above for the year, you will schedule for Academic Algebra I.

• If you took Pre-Algebra this year and received a 81% or below for the year, you will schedule for Integrated Math.

• If you score BASIC or BELOW BASIC on the PSSA, you will be scheduled for Integrated Math.

Math continued…• If you took Algebra I this year, you must

earn an 82% or better to move onto Advanced Academic Geometry.

• If you took Advanced Academic Geometry this year, you need an 82% or higher to schedule for Advanced Academic Algebra II. If you have 81% or below, your math options will need to be reviewed.

Elective Fair on March 25.Study hall is an elective option.

SCHOOL level if you are college bound.

• Spanish I and French I taken in Middle School does not count for high school credit.

• You need a cumulative average of 72% or better to move onto the next level of a foreign language.

• WORLD LANGUAGE COUNTS AS ONE OF YOUR ELECTIVES.

Information TechnologyInformation Technology is a graduation requirement and

needs to appear on your schedule.

All students will be scheduled to take Advanced Word Processing and

PowerPoint.

Physical Education rotationPhysical Education is a graduation requirement.

All students will be scheduled to take a physical education class. Physical

education meets 3 days of the 6 day rotation all year long. A studyhall is

offered opposite the physical education class.

What about lunch?

• There are 3 lunch periods. You will be assigned a lunch period based upon your academic schedule. You may eat lunch with upperclassmen.

CHOOSE WISELY!!Schedule changes will be limited. Any changes made to

your schedule over the summer months need to be changed with the HIGH SCHOOL main office. You will

receive a copy of your selected courses at the end of the school year/early summer. The High School main office

can be reached at 724-265-5320. The high school will also make adjustments to your schedule based upon your final

grades at the end of your eighth grade year.

Important Information

• Eighth Grade Scheduling – date TBA Bring scheduling worksheet.• Freshman orientation is scheduled for August.

The High School will be in touch with an orientation date.
