AGENDA OF

MEETING
ACTION TAKEN
1. Discussion on
conduct of
National
Seminar
sponsored by
NAAC on the
theme “Quality
Enhancement in
Higher
Education
Institutions”
A NAAC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Quality
Enhancement in Higher Education’ was held successfully
on February 14, 2020. An organizing committee was
formed for the smooth conduct of the seminar. Along
with the IQAC committee, they ensured printing of
brochure, invitation to stake holders, review and
compilation of research papers. A book entitled
“Emerging paradigms in Higher education” was
published with an ISBN number. The main theme of the
seminar centered upon improving the qualitative aspects
of education as per the directives of assessment and
accreditation criteria of NAAC. The seminar provided a
platform for more than 110 delegates including
academicians, research scholars, PhD scholars, faculty
and entrepreneurs from different parts of the country. The
honorable Chief Guest of the seminar, Prof. Nilofer
Khan, Director (Home Science, School of Applied
Sciences and Technology) and Ex- Registrar, University

emphasized upon the need of quality enhancement to
ensure a better future of the students. Four plenary

i) The college got a grant of Rs. 16,000 from Education
Department, Chandigarh Administration for conduct of survey
on preference of mid day meal served in schools form three
centralized kitchens. As per observations of this study, the
students did not belong to affluent class. Hence, affluence was
not the reason behind less or poor intake of meals given under
MDM. Most of the students were not liking the food because of
its bland taste and being monotonous in flavor and texture.
Hence, there is a need for diet diversity and variations in terms
of taste, flavor and texture which are required to be incorporated
in the meals as almost similar flavor and taste makes the meals
more monotonous and less interesting on regular basis for the
children. Based on the findings of the survey, Cluster kitchens
in schools have been promoted instead of three centralized
kitchens.
The grant of Rs.1,24,500/ was given to college by MHRD for
Workshop cum training of aanganwadi workers under
centrally sponsored scheme of Samagra Shiksha. The
emphasis of the workshop was focused on Early Childhood Care
and Education wherein key role is played by Anganwadi
workers in bridging gap between children and their holistic
development. The faculty delivered various lectures and
demonstrated various activities that could be done by
Anganwadi workers to promote development of preschool
children. Various topics like inculcating creativity and scientific
temperament in children,physical, motor,emotional,social
development of children, common diseases and problems. The
department developed a Resource book on ECCE for
Anganwadi workers. The book was a ready referenceof activities
for Anganwadi workerswhich they could use in their centers.
A recipe booklet entitled ' Poshak Tatvon se Bharpoor Vyanjan' was compiled and edited by Dr Sudha Katyal and Dr Vasudha under the mission of Poshan Abhiyan (PMs overarching scheme for holistic nourishment) for the four vulnerable groups of society (i.e. infants under 1000 days, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women) covering nutritious recipes of nutri-cereals including millets (pearl millet, finger millet, sorghum, oats, amaranthus, seasame seeds, super soya etc.) Effort was done to prepare low cost but nutritious and palatable recipes in order to cover the deficiencies of iron, protein, calcium and other macro-micronutrients among the vulnerable groups and thereby convert them into strong pillars of the society, community and nation.
In wake of fear of spread of Covid 19, the
administration discontinued classes for the students
from March 16, 2020, hence the ongoing activit ies
had to be discontinued
