English Elocution Competition for Grade I and 2 was
held on 11th of May 2015. The theme for Grade I was ‘
Five Senses’ . Grade 2 participants recited poems on’
Food’. It was a delight to watch two students of Grade 2
take centre stage and conduct the whole event with
aplomb. Senior English teachers of the school, Ms. Dolly
Chowdhury, Ms. Sonali and Ms.Chinmoyee Choraria
were the judges for the competition. The programme
was well appreciated by parents and the judges. The win-
ners were given certificates.
Held on 12th May 2015 for Grade 3,4 and 5 , it was an Inter-House competition.
Twenty-four students displayed their oratory skills. The contestants were very well
prepared and the flawless renditions signified perfect diction, intonation and ex-
pression.
Grade 3 and 4 recited poems by William Wordsworth while Grade 5 participants
recited poems by Henry Louis Vivian Derozio .
The judges for the event were three secondary teachers of South City International
School, Mrs. Mondira Sarkar , Mrs.Ranjana Battacharya and Mrs.Malobika Poddar.
Two students of Primary section, Rishi Ganchaudhuri and Priyanka Shetty were the
anchors for the show .Sneha Guha of Grade 5 was judged as the best speaker .
Four Houses battled it out in the SCIS Inter House English Elo-
cution Competition, 2015-16 held on 6th May, 2015. With the
introduction of Class XI, the categories of competition were in-
creased from two to three. Class VI and VII formed the first
category; VIII and IX, the second; X and XI, the third.
It was a power packed performance with well chosen poems
from the theme of Freedom and Empowerment. With Class X
and XI, the focus shifted to poets from India, and Bengal in par-
ticular. The participants did not restrict themselves to poems
but explored speeches, letters and extracts from short stories
as well.
With Innovator House finally winning the competition and Ra-
jit Banerjee from Innovator House being declared the Best
Speaker, one can only say like ABBA ‘The Winner takes it All’.
A VISIT TO INDIAN MUSEUM
Along with Principal , Mr. Bagul, who is also our Biology teacher, we the students of Class XI visited the Indian
Museum on a weekday. It was a fascinating as well as enriching experience. There were innumerable biologi-
cal specimens. Particularly the fossils and the objects of taxidermy were very interesting. We returned with a
bag full of knowledge.
