TURN YOUR WHEEL TOWARDS THE GUTTER WHEN PARKING ON HILLS.
On the 5/7/2015 an QLD CSA had a fright when making a delivery to a customers prem-
ise. As the CSA was delivering to his last drop he noticed a noise coming from the street.
When took a look he noticed the vehicle had rolled down the street. Vehicle rolled approx
5 to 6 metres and mounted the footpath and came to stop by a tree. There was no damage
to other vehicles or property or persons. The vehicle was turned off and locked. The Hand-
brake had been applied and the vehicle was in Park. There was minor damage to the front
bumper of the Online vehicle. The vehicle was towed to
Hino for assessment with no mechanical faults identi-
fied.
When uphill or downhill parking it is advisable to turn
your steering wheel slightly to ensure the vehicles tyres
are turned towards the gutter as pictured. This will en-
sure the vehicle rolls onto the kerb or worst case the
footpath. His makes it impossible for the vehicle to pick
up an momentum.
GETTING UNSTUCK FROM MUD. QLD Driveway was slippery as it was rained the day before….trucks tyres got stuck while revers-ing….tow truck was called to remove the vehicle. NSW Long Beach Truck lost traction on muddy driveway and become stuck alongside fence and 10metre ditch. Fence post scratched side of truck. When at-tempted to reverse truck out it slid further sideways toward ditch. Linfox called, SG Fleet called, Woolworths called. Tow trucks required to winch truck out. If you vehicle is bogged it doesn’t do any good to accelerate in an effort to move. Traction doesn't depend on speed. 1. Move the tires slowly. The slow movement won’t cause
the tire to slip and should provide the traction you need to move.
2. Try to dig out the mud from in front of the front on the power wheel. Then wedge a car mat , branches, rocks, blanket or old coat under the leading edge of the wheel. Inch forward until the tires grip on the item, and then slowly drive.
