Each year, over 10,000 young leaders are surveyed and focus groups are held all over the world to ensure the One Young World Summit content is current and highly relevant to millennials. The results of this Global Consultation Process form the central themes and topics on which the rest of the Summit agenda is based.

Main Stage
Main stage sessions span wide-ranging subjects delivered in various formats, from delegate-led panels to keynote speeches.

During these sessions young leaders share innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.

BENEFITSCASE STUDY: EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEE RETENTION STRATEGY
“sTandTall” - Unilever, Founder: Esther Marshall (pictured bottom left)
Esther founded sTandTall to support victims of domestic abuse. Ultimately the aim is to build centres which provide restorative care to victims around the world. Esther attended One Young World in 2014 as a Unilever delegate. She says “…I heard about other young people overcoming adversity. It affected me deeply. After eighteen months of diarising my abuse, I decided to stop writing and start getting on with my life; my final sentence was “one day I will stand tall.” She drafted her plan of action and contacted One Young World Founders David Jones and Kate Robertson. They helped her reach Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever. With his support and that of his team, sTandTall was created. sTandTall helps victims find support offered by various organisations through its website, which has received over 50,000 views. It offers workshops which provide advice to people at risk and teaches people to recognise the warning signs of someone suffering abuse. Esther could have left Unilever to accomplish her ambition, but instead Unilever stood behind her and allowed her to set up sTandTall, with corporate support.
EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEE RETENTION STRATEGY
By sending the best talent to a One Young World Summit, partners demonstrate they recognise their delegates’ potential, nurture their leadership qualities and encourage them to share that inspiration with colleagues and peers.

CASE STUDY: PROVEN TALENT DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM
“Youth Health Parliament” – Johnson and Johnson, Founders: Ben Griffiths and Lewis Smith (pictured left)
Ben and Lewis, two Johnson & Johnson employees, founded the Youth Health Parliament, an idea-generating leadership platform for 50 young health professionals with a desire to build a fair, sustainable and innovative National Health Service. They debate and formulate new ideas which are then formalised into a set of five proposals for policymakers. They have hosted events at the House of Commons. Over four one-day meetings throughout 2016, participants debate and formulate new ideas to help make the UK a healthier place. The ideas will be formalised into a set of five white papers’ or proposals These may be as written documents, info-graphics or even a video, that we can then share both publicly and with policy makers. The concept of the Youth Health Parliament was inspired by the One Young World Summit 2014 in Dublin, Ireland, where Ben and Lewis, two medical managers at Johnson and Johnson, felt inspired to contribute in a positive way to the future of healthcare in the UK.
