Activity 1: Our Family!!

Discuss how a family is made up of two or more people in love, and are different in size, roles, rules, traditions, and beliefs.

Show students pictures of our families and describe how we are related to each member.

Have each child draw a picture of the members of their families.

When this is completed, have the children share their pictures with the rest of the class.

Activity 2: World Cookbook

Send a letter home to the parents/guardians, asking that each child brings in a recipe that represents their culture.

As a class make a cookbook of all of these different recipes

Students will discuss what a quilt is.

Students will make a quilt for the class.

Oak tag patches

Pencils, Markers, Crayons

Procedure

Show the students an oak tag patch.

Explain to the students that they are to draw one thing about themselves on the patch.

Put all of the students patches together to make one large quilt.

Discussion and Display

Each student will explain their patch to the class.

The quilt will be hung in the classroom for everyone to see.
