Complete a focus lesson with students, using the anchor charts, before using this activity in stations. Understanding the use and difference between singular and plural nouns will help students incorporate this convention correctly in their independent writing.

Take an Activity Sheet to complete on your own. 2. Take turns reading the anchor charts provided. Be sure you understand the difference between a singular noun and a plural noun. 3. Using the newspapers and magazines provided, look for examples of each type of noun. Find at least 3 of each. 4. Neatly cut out the nouns and glue them on the correct place on your Activity Sheet.
Challenge: Now use each noun in a sentence. Read each sentence aloud with expression and fluency. Be sure that the verb makes sense with the noun in your sentence. Reflection: How do singular and plural nouns affect verbs in a sentence?
