“It is a fitting tribute that there is a day dedicated just to you, to recognize the role you play in supporting our patients, making their treatment more manageable and making  their overall experience Shockingly Excellent!

The theme this year is Inspiring Change and I encourage all of you to take a minute today to reflect on how you inspire change. Is it in the way that you help patients deal with their devastating diagnosis and accept the journey they are on; is it how you help the patient through their intense chemotherapy regimen and come out the other side or is how you help the anxious patient dispel the myths about radiation treatment and accept that this is the course of treatment they should follow?

Always remember the difference that you make in people’s lives as they come to terms with the journey that they are on, how grateful patients and their family members are that you were there for them and that it takes a very special person to be an Oncology Nurse.
