The beetle brought Thumbelina to show his friends. The other beetles only laughed at

her. They thought she was ugly, not pretty like a beetle.

Scared and lost Thumbelina wandered through the forest trying to find her home.

Soon Thumbelina found a mouse house. Mrs. Mouse felt sorry for the lost girl and

invited her in the house.

One day, Mr. Mole came to visit Mrs. Mouse. He fell in love with Thumbelina and

wanted to marry her. He offered lots of food for her and Mrs. Mouse agreed.

Thumbelina did not want to marry Mr. Mole. Mrs. Mouse tried to soothe her and told

her it was for the best. Mr. Mole was rich and would give her many good things
