Hartlik welkom in Wanda dameskoshuis! In Wanda bou ons familiebande deur wedersydse vertroue en respek teenoorons mede inwoners. Ons sien en erken die uniekheid en individualiteit van ander en dit kweek 'n omgee kultuur watbydra tot ons diverse en multikulturele koshuisatmosfeer. Dit is 'n eienskap wat ons onderskei van ander koshuise.
Soos in enige huis en in enige gesin, is kommunikasie van uiterste belang. Neem daarom asseblief die vrymoedigheidom met my, die primaria of enige van die ander huiskomiteelede te kom praat as jy 'n probleem ondervind, maak niesaak hoe groot of klein dit is nie. Om te verseker dat jy deel van die koshuis word, is dit van kardinale belang dat jy
moeite sal doen om nie net jou mede-eerstejaars en hulle name te leer ken nie, maar ook die senior studente in die koshuis. Maak dit 'n gewoonte om koshuisaktiwiteite te ondersteun en daaraan deel te neem,want so word jy deel van die koshuis en die studentelewe. Wanda is nie net jou koshuis nie, maar dit is ook jou huis virdie duur van jou studiejare. Saam sal ons daarna streef om die waardes van Wanda sowel as dié van die NWU uit te
leef. Jou primêre doel hier op universiteit is om 'n sukses van jou akademiese loopbaan te maak en om uiteindelik jou graad te verwerf. Maar jou holistiese ontwikkeling is van kardinale belang vir ons
en daarom sal jy aangemoedig word om op een of ander manier betrokke te wees in al die fasette van dieuniversiteitslewe. Ons sien uit daarna om jou te ontmoet.

Welcome to Wanda ladies residence! At Wanda we build family ties through mutual trust and respect towards our fellow residents. We recognize and acknowledge the uniqueness and individuality of others as
this cultivates a caring culture that adds to our diverse and multicultural residence atmosphere. This is a characteristic that distinguishes us from other residences.
As in any home and within any family, communication is of the utmost importance. For this reason please feel free to contact myself, the Primaria or any of the other House Committee members should you experience any problem no matter how big or small. In order to ensure that you become part of the residence it is of vital importance that you
take the time to get to know not only your fellow first-years by name but the senior students in the residence as well. Make it a habit to support and become part of the residence’s activities as this will ensure that you become part of the residence and student life. Wanda is not just your residence but is your home for the duration of your studies.
Together we will strive to realize the values of Wanda as well as those of the NWU. Your primary task here at university is to make a success of your academic career and ultimately to obtain your degree. However,
your holistic development is of paramount importance to us and for this reason you will be encouraged to involve yourself in one way or another in all facets of university life.

Wat ’n voorreg vir my om te weet dat ek as Eerstejaars HK-lid van dag 1 af deel gaan wees van jou onvergeetlike nuwe ervaring, nie net by
die NWU nie, maar ook hier by die lekkerste koshuis op kampus.
My rol is om julle onder my vlerk in te neem en deur hierdie onsekere, maar tog beste tyd van jou lewe, te lei, te ondersteun en te help tot die beste van my vermoë. Ek is nie hier om net voor jou te loop nie, maar ook langs jou. En wanneer dit nodig is, ook agter jou om jou daardie
hupstoot te gee om hoër hoogtes te bereik. Hier by Wanda gaan jy ‘JOU' mense vind. Die mense by wie jy jouself kan wees. Die mense wat saam jou gaan lag, saam jou gaan huil en

geleentheid gegun word om jouself ten volle uit te leef. Elke meisie se menswees word as spesiaal geag wat ons ook die kans bied om
by mekaar te leer. Ek werk saam met nege ander HK-lede om te verseker dat hierdie
gebou jou huis word. In Wanda is dit vir ons belangrik om te verseker dat jou reis tot die grootmenswêreld so glad as moontlik verloop.
Binnekort sal jy agterkom dat studentiteit 'n leefstyl raak. My raad aan jou is om oopkop te bly en elke uitdaging en
geleentheid met altwee hande aan te gryp. Jou jare op universiteit is die tyd waarin jy jou karakter skaaf en skuur om uiteindelik as 'n volronde mens die wêreld te betree.

My role is to take you under my wing and to lead, support and help you to the best of my ability through this uncertain, yet best time of your life. I'm not here to just walk before you, but also next to you; and
when it's necessary, behind you to boost you to reach higher heights. Here at Wanda you will find 'YOUR' people. The people you can be
yourself with. The people who laugh with you, cry with you and who will one day hold the flowers at your wedding. Here your
uniqueness is nurtured, so be sure to find your place in the Wanda family.

Every resident in Wanda is known as a “Wandaliet”. Wanda’s name is derived from the name of the "Vanda" orchid. The residence’s colours are navy blue and white. We wear our Wanda formals on Mondays, to showcase our pride and uniformity.Our emblem is a “Ghadaffi” – an adorable baby giraffe. "Carpe Diem" -Seize the day is our motto. Words we strive to live by every day by seizing every opportunity that comes our way with both hands.Wanda consists of 4 blocks: Aitsa, Bianca, Eensklaps and Ditsem, each with their own unique character.254 Ladies call Wanda home, that’s 64 ladies per block.Wanda is 43 years old!Our 'SLEEP' (dating residence) for 2018 is HEIMAT Mens Residence. We are very excited to work with them during RAG, SRCS, First-years' concert and throughout the year!

What is R&O? R&O or more fully, Registration & Orientation lasts for 2 weeks. You will have the opportunity to get to know the campus, write apptitude tests, register and receive your student card, ect. In the third week known as RAG we will build our floats.

Wat is ʼn intrekkerpakket? ’n Intrekkerspakket behels ’n kombinasie van studenteaksies wat elke voornemende eerstejaarstudent kies om aan deel te neem. Nie een van hierdie aksies is verpligtend nie, wat beteken dat studente slegs betaal vir dit waarin hulle wil en gaan deelneem. Die onderskeie intrekkerspakkette maak dit ook vir studente moontlik om met slegs een betaling die betrokke kostes te dek. Daar word sterk aanbeveel dat u die volle pakket neem, jy wil niks mis nie!
Wat is koshuiskas? Koshuiskas is ’n eenmalige bedrag wat deur voornemende koshuisinwoners betaal word wat hul deelname aan verskeie studenteaksies (sport, kunste, JOOL, instandhouding, opedag, ens.) deur die jaar wil verseker.
Wat is die doel van die oorpak (Ovie tydens JOOL)? Die oorpak moet vir veiligheidsredes (Beroepsveiligheid en gesondheidwetgewing vereis dit aangesien daar gesweis word tydens die bou van die JOOLvlotte) deur elke persoon wat die JOOLplaas betree, gedra word. Oorpakke kan wel gekoop word sonder om JOOLkaartjies te koop of om aan JOOL deel te neem, aangesien die oorpakke ook vir ander geleenthede benut gaan word.
Wat behels JOOL? JOOL behels nie net studentepret en plesier nie. JOOL het ook ’n sterk sosiale bewustheidsonderbou: “Jou Onbaatsugtige Opoffering vir Liefdadigheid”. Jou JOOLkaartjie verseker nie net jou deelname aan hierdie onvergeetlike studentebelewenis en energieke prosessie nie; dit gee jou ook toegang tot die JOOLplaas. Nie net eindig die vlotoptog hier nie; dit is ook die plek waar twee polsende rockkonserte die laaste twee aande, asook ʼn vuurwerkvertoning op die Vrydagaand, aangebied word.
Wat is Eerstejaarsdinee? Die Eerstejaarsdinee is ’n swierige en eksklusiewe spoggeleentheid vir eerstejaarstudente. Hier kan hulle mekaar beter leer ken. Hierdie dinee is jaar na jaar ’n besliste hoogtepunt en is ’n absolute moet-bywoon vir eerstejaars!

What is a resident package? The resident package includes a combination of student activities which each prospective first year can choose to participate in. None of these activities are compulsory which means that students only pay for what will they will participate in. The purpose of the residence package is to facilitate the payment of various optional student activities by combining student activities where only one payment is required. We encourage you to take the full package as you don't want to miss out
What is the residence fund? Residence fund is a once-off amount which is paid by prospective residents who want to ensure their participation in various student activities like sport, arts, RAG, maintenance, open day, etc.
What is the purpose of the overall during RAG? The overall is necessary for safety reasons (Workplace safety and health-legislation requires this due to the fact that people have to weld when building the RAG-float) and should be worn by every person that enters the RAG-farm. The overalls can be bought without the need to buy a RAG-ticket or to participate in RAG because the overalls are used on other occasions as well.
What does RAG entail? RAG is not only fun and games; it is a big charity event. Your RAG ticket lets you participate in this unforgettable student experience and energetic parade and also gives you access to the RAG-farm. This is the place where the float parade ends and it is also the place where two rock-concerts take place on the final two evenings of RAG-week. There is also a firework show on the Friday evening.
What is First-years' formal? The first-years' formal is a smart and exclusive event for first year students. This is an opportunity to get to know one another a litlle better. This is an annual highlight and an absolute must for first-years.

Die verwysing is uiters belangrik, sodat die gelde na die korrekte koshuise gestuur word
OPSIE 2: KONTANTBETALING BY KOSHUISE Gelde word betaal by die koshuis met aankoms. Dit kan kontant of per tjek. Tjeks moet asb. soos volg uitgemaak word aan: NoordwesUniversiteit, dit mag nie aan die koshuis uitgemaak word nie. Namibiese en buitelandse tjeks word ongelukkig nie aanvaar nie. Dring asb. aan op ʼn kwitansie aangesien dit dien as bewys van betaling.
OPSIE 3: KONTANT & BANKKAART BETALING Gelde word betaal by kassiere in gebou F1 in Lovers Lane met die Eerstejaarsontvangs. ʼn Kwitansie word vir u uitgedruk en moet dan by die koshuis ingedien word as bewys van betaling. Ons raai u aan om nie die prosedure te volg nie aangesien die rye lank is en om vir kassiere te vra om twee kwitansies uit te druk aangesien u die een gaan indien by die koshuis en dan self nie ʼn bewys het nie.
OPSIE 4: HEFFING OP STUDENTEREKENING Hierdie vorm word geteken by die koshuis met aankoms waar die gelde op die studenterekening gehef sal word. Alle beurshouers (NSFAS ingesluit) moet hierdie vorm teken, mits anders gestel deur beursooreenkoms.

OPTION 1: EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer/ Internet banking) Proof of payment must be brought (hard copy) on the day of arrival and handed in at the Financial HC member of Wanda residence. This proof of payment must also be sent via email to the Financial HC member (Crystal Kruger) of the residence: [email protected]

It's extremely important to make use of the correct reference number so that payment can be made to the correct residence!
OPTION 2: FEES ARE PAYBLE AT THE RESIDENCE ON ARRIVAL Money may be paid at the residence on the day of arrival. It may be paid in cash or cheque in the designated room at the residence. Cheques must be made out to: North West University, and not be made out to the residence. Namibian and foreign cheques are not accepted. Please insist on a receipt as this serves as proof of payment.
OPTION 3: CASH & BANK CARD PAYMENT Money may be paid at the cashiers in building F1 in Lovers Lane on the day of arrival. A receipt will be issued which has to be handed in at the residence and serves as proof of payment. We advise against this procedure due to the fact that the queues are long and you need to request two receipts; one to be submitted one at the residence and one which you keep as proof of payment.
OPTION 4: FEES ARE CHARGED TO THE STUDENT ACCOUNT This form is signed at the residence on arrival and then the fees will be charged to the student account. All bursary holders (including NSFAS) must sign this form, unless otherwise stated by the bursary agreement.

R&O begin reeds 13 Januarie 2018.Jy kan al vanaf die 12de Januarie 2018 om 14:00 tot 18:00 intrek.Saterdag 13 Januarie 2018 sal die koshuis reeds om 06:00 oop wees om in te trek. Ons vra asb. dat jy reeds teen12:00 Saterdag middag ingetrek het, omrede die R&O program by die koshuis om 14:30 sal begin!
Jy gaan in ‘n dubbelkamer saam ‘n kamermaat bly. Daarom is dit regtig belangrik dat jy die vraelys wat aangeheg is, so akkuraat as moontlik invul sodat ek die mees geskikte kamermaat vir jou kan kies.Lees weer die nodige inligting om seker te maak wat jy mag en nie mag saambring nie! Bring ook suiglekkers, energie sweeties, powerade en iets soos provitas saam vir R&O. Dit is regtig warm en ons gaan baie stap. Ons gaan 3x ‘n dag by die eetsaal eet, maar dit sal dalk goed wees om tussen deur aan iets te “snack” (snoepwinkel beskikbaar by koshuis).Ek sal vroeg in Januarie 2018 laat weet wie jou kamermaat is. Moenie jou hele huis saambring op die eerste dag nie. Jy gaan elke dag van R&O, m.a.w. totdat klas begin, kos kry by die eetsaal. Moet dus nie ekstra kos ens. nou al saam bring as jy die eerste dag intrek nie.

R&O starts January 13th 2018. You can move in on January 12th 2018 between 14:00 - 18:00.The residence will open at 06:00 on Saturday, January 13th for moving in. We kindly request that you are settled in no later than 12:00 on Saturday afternoon, as the R&O program commences!
You will be living in a double room with a roommate. For this reason we ask that you fill in the questionnaire ashonestly and thoroughly as possible to ensure you and your roommate are the best possible match!Meals will be provided 3X daily, but it’s a good idea to bring snacks. It is extremely hot and we will be walking a lot! A tuck shop will be available at the residence.You will be notified early in January as to who your roommate is. Please confirm with her as to who is bringing a fridge and who is bringing a microwave. You only need one of each per room.The rooms have enough living space, but are still small. Do not bring everything you own or hordes of dry food for storing. Food will be provided for the first 3 weeks.
