Tata Steel Jamshedpur plant is like Fort Knox. Can’t barge in just like that. Lot of formalities have to be met. On Day 2, the entire team was busy fulfilling those nitty-gritties. Aakib, luckily, shed his jacket due to heat. But was commanded to wear seat belt though he was in the rear. Safety first when you ride into Tata Steel citadel. Good.

Flanked by DARCL team led by Nishant Tanay consisting of Darcl Dada and Aakib, Transport Mitra Founder Selvan Dasaraj gave a detailed presentation on TM’s focused long haul truck driver welfare activities to Tata Steel Customer Service Department’s xxx xxx .

Dhaba Adoption Program (DAP), scripted by TM-KRK Foundation, was received well. Beyond creating basic facilities, the idea of healthcare check up and monitoring on a regular basis was appreciated. Added to the kitty was a sustained road safety awareness for long haul truck drivers.

Ashish Gupta, Chief of Logistics & Customer Service Department, Tata Steel, heard the Dhaba Adoption Program (DAP) and the proposed Jamshedpur-Delhi Road Trip for identification of suitable sites for execution for Darcl long haul drivers en route.

Extending full support of Tata Steel for such driver welfare activities – not only on this route, but right across India – said he would wait for a full fledged proposal after the trip is completed. A good start, indeed.

Post-lunch, we headed for the local market to buy soft pillows. Not one. But 50. Yes, fifty! What for?

Well, that’s a different but interesting story.
