Prayer to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha St. Kateri Tekakwitha, favored child and Lily of the Mohawks, I come to seek your intercession in my present need: (mention it). I admire the virtues which adorned your soul: love of God and neighbor, humility, obedience, patience, purity and the spirit of sacrifice. Help me to imitate your example in my state of life. Through the goodness and mercy of God, Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness, pray to God for me and help me. Obtain for me a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist so that I may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as I can. Teach me

also to be devoted to my crucified Savior as you were, that I may cheerfully bear my daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of me. Most of all, I beg you to pray for me that I may avoid sin, lead a holy life and save my soul. Amen.

PRAYER FOR PARISH RENEWAL Heavenly Father,

We thank you for gathering us together

and calling us to serve as your disciples.

You have charged us through

Your Son, Jesus, with the great

mission of evangelizing and

witnessing your love to the world.

Send your Holy Spirit to guide us

as we discern Your will for the

spiritual renewal of our parish.

Give us strength, courage, and

clear vision as we use our gifts to

serve You. We entrust our parish family

to the care of Mary, our mother, and

ask for her intercession and guidance

as we strive to bear witness

to the Gospel and build an

amazing parish through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Dear Faith Formation Families - May we all be always filled with joy and peace because of Jesus' Suffering, Death and

Resurrection. Through Him all things are possible and He will bring us through this time of difficulty. It is for us to have

the faith to hope and love to share, in His Name! We hope and pray that all is well with you and your loved ones.

Online Re-registration is open. Go to our Religious Ed page on our parish website.

At this time there is no further news to share - we remain shutdown until further notice.

Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church Third Sunday of Easter

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS

HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly

Third Sunday of Easter

April 26, 2020

“With that their eyes were opened and they recognized

him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to

one another ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while

he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to

us?’ So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem

where they found gathered together the eleven and those

with them who were saying ‘The Lord has truly been

raised and has appeared to Simon.’”

A beautiful book entitled ‘Walking with Jesus’ consists of the

teachings of Pope Francis. It covers a wide variety of topics,

enabling the reader to listen, learn and find Jesus present in

so many ways today.

The walk of the two disciples to Emmaus was so special.

Cleopas, was named by Luke, and perhaps I am the second

person, now joined by Jesus. He continues to accompany us,

but sometimes our eyes are closed or we are unable to rec-

ognize Him. He walks with us as we meet the poor. He talks

with us, as we listen to the hurts of victims of injustice. He

calls us to remedy unjust conditions as racism, xenophobia

or discrimination.

My task today is to open my eyes to the reality of my world.

Where can I find the Lord and how do I treat Him? The bot-

tom line for those who were walking is that He revealed

Himself in the breaking of the bread. He reveals Himself to

us today in the same action of the Eucharist. ‘Lord I want to

see.’

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

First Reading: Acts 2:14, 22‑‑‑‑33

After the Holy Spirit descends upon the apostles, Peter

preaches with great enthusiasm to both Jews and Christians.

He recalls for them in vivid terms the miracles and wonders

that Jesus performed.

Second Reading: 1 Peter 1:17‑‑‑‑21

Peter makes reference to the Passover, when the Jews es-

caped from Egypt because the blood of the paschal lamb

was shed. Now they are being saved from sin by the blood of

Christ, the Lamb of the New Testament.

Gospel: Luke 24:13‑‑‑‑35

Jesus reveals Himself to two disciples on the way to Em-

maus. After explaining to them the passages in Scripture

which referred to Him, Christ “took bread, broke it, and dis-

tributed it to them.” Then they recognized Christ and their

“hearts burned within them.”
