Something To Think About Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director All of us want a 20/20 vision. Or at least to see things more clearly. As we move into the year 2020, the San Jacinto Baptist Association in our Annual Meeting agreed to three priorities: 1. To continue to make PRAYER a priority of
the Association. 2. To continue to work with struggling churches and to assist all churches to become vibrant, community reaching churches. 3. To provide training opportunities for members of the Association churches. Some of the strategic things to be done this year include Winter Bible Study Preview of Jeremiah; Monthly Prayer Gatherings at the Mission Center and area churches; Need to know Workshops; Training opportunities for Pastors, Staff Members, Deacons and Church Members. In addition, the Association will strive to keep our churches informed of things happening through both of our state conventions and the Southern Baptist Convention, which includes all of our Mission entities. Information can be found on the website at www.sanjacintobaptist.com and through the On the Line newsletter sent out through emails and by postal services. If you are not receiving the On the Line, please contact the Mission Center office at 281-422-3604 to be included. We will accomplish these and other plans only as we receive support from our member churches. San Jacinto Baptist Association is totally reliant upon the financial support and involvement of our churches. We look forward to serving our Association churches this coming year. So, with that, let me remind you of what the Gospel of John says in John 20:20, “When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.” (ESV). People want to see Jesus and the reality of His resurrection in the lives of Christians. When they see Jesus in us, they will want to know Him also.
We want to see God move in San Jacinto Baptist Association like never before, but it all starts with one. Heaven rejoices each time even one person comes to know Jesus.
Do you have your one person you are focused on reaching?
Commit to intentionally praying for and sharing the gospel with one person and join us at the next Prayer Gathering:

The

For the Common Good Carey. D. Froelich, Associate Director for Church Enrichment ESV Jeremiah 1:4 Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to
the nations." Many years ago Avery Willis, the author of the MasterLife discipleship program, offered wonderful counsel concerning personal Bible study. He encouraged us to look at a passage of Scripture and ask 2 questions: 1) What is God saying to me in these words? 2) What do I want to say to Him in response? Every year Southern Baptists are encouraged to invest some time in a January Bible Study event, and for 2020 the recommended study is called: Jeremiah: Faithful to the Mission. On Tuesday, January 28 we will provide an overview of this marvelous book, highlighting some of the messages from this great prophet and trying to discover God’s contemporary Word for our churches today. In a day when many congregations seem to resemble the remnants of Judah, Jeremiah’s messages are relevant to our time. Our response to these contemporary struggles has been set before us in the prophet’s words. I hope you will plan to be a part of this meaningful—and timely—study of God’s Word. The study will be at the Mission Center (1020 Birdsong, Baytown) from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, and is open to all who want to join us. Please make your reservation by calling 281-422-3604 or through our website sanjacintobaptist.com

Fill in the name of your “One,” cut it out, and carry it as a daily reminder to pray for your “One” to know Christ this year.
“The spirit of the Lord is upon me--to preach the acceptable year of the
Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19)
Jesus is specific about what this means! He declares: “He (the Holy Spirit) has anointed
Me (Jesus) to preach.” What? “The Gospel” (the good news of God): “to the poor” (poor in spirit, poor in knowledge). What else? “To heal the broken-hearted” (loss of hope, of spiritual faith); What more? “Deliverance to the captives- recovering of sight to the blind- and liberty to them that are bruised.” And finally-- “to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” (New Year, 2020!) Jesus’ mandate was: (1.) Preach, (2.) Heal, (3.) Deliver, (4.) Recover, (5.) Liberate, (6.) By Grace through Faith. He sacri-ficed Himself for the believer’s sin, and provided for millions, reaching forward. The Bible tells us: “All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.” (Roman 3:23) – even the born-again Christians! King David cried out; “Against Thee, Thee only have I sinned--” (Psalm 51:4) The prodigal son wept: Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.” (Luke 15:21) The answer is prayer! The Bible says: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow: though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18) Again, prayer! “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our [sins] only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2) Pray with faith! Jesus said: “All manner of sin and blasphemy--
-- shall be forgiven unto men.” (Matthew 12:31)
