Rehabilitation and Resettlement

● 11 Villages under submersion

● Socio-economic Survey completed in all the villages

● Compensation paid

● R&R centers are identified

● The works for providing infrastructural facilities to submerged villages are in progress.

➢ Irrigational facilities to farmers cultivating 4.38 lakh acres land.

➢ More crops in the drought affected areas - Prakasham, Nellore and Kadapa districts.

➢ Drinking water to 1.5 million people in 29 Mandals.

➢ No risk of diseases due to consumption of fluorine free water.

Srisailam Dam – Hydro Electric Power StationAn Introduction:

● Temple of Modern India.

● Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Sagar Srisailam Hydro Electric Power Station: Located across the Krishna River; Near Srisailam temple town.

● Inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru on 24th July 1963.

● Completed in 1984.

● Constructed with stone masonry and concrete.

● Built in 22 Blocks with contraction joints.

● Spillway is provided with 12 radial gates.

● Power surplus with excess power generation.

● 2nd largest hydroelectric station in the country.

Salient Features

● Constructed on Krishna River in Nallamala Hills in between Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts.

● 275.54 m (904 ft) above sea level. ● 512 m (1,680 ft) long, 145 m (476 ft) height from

deepest foundaton, 12 radial crest gates of sze 60X55 feet.

● 7.30 m width provides movement of inspection vehicles.

● Reservoir of 612.42 square kilometres . ● Minimum draw down level (MDDL) - 705 feet from

river sluice gates. ● Left bank : Underground power station - 6 × 150

megawatts , reversible Francis-pump turbines for pumped-storage operation.

● Right bank: Semi underground power station - 7 × 110 megawatts Francis-turbine generators.

● Catchment Area  206030 sq. km ● Dam type: Gravity Dam.

Two Power Houses:

❖ Right Flank Power House: 7X110 (7 Generating Units of each 110 MW); located in A.P.

❖ Left Flank Power House: 6 X150 (6 Generating Units of each 150 MW); located in Telengana

Project Cost & Rehabilitation

● Total cost : ₹10 billion ● Dam cost: ₹4.04 billion ● Right bank branch canal cost: ₹4.49 billion (Initial

investment of ₹1.4 billion provided by the World Bank).

● 117 Villages affected● 86 Villages submerged● 44.154 Hac area of land submerged.● 21037 houses submerged● 26784 families rehabilitated. ● Compensation was paid as per market rate.

Buddhist excavations ) and Ethipothala Falls.➢ Irrigation: ➢ The right canal (Jawahar canal) 203 km long

irrigates 1.117 million acres in Guntur and Prakasam districts.

➢ The left canal (Lalbahadur Shastri canal) 179 km long irrigates 1.008 million acres in Nalgonda, Krishna, West Godavari and Khammam districts.20

Constraints

● FRL beyond RL+296.5 mtr. would result in submersion of Kurnool District.

● Arch dam was not possible for rocks solidarity ● Lack of suitable equipments for constructing

Land: Records and Revenue(Visited Guntur District)

Revenue Department (AP): Manages functions

related to the matters of Government lands, excise, commercial tax, registrations, survey and settlements, endowments, etc.

Revenue Administration

➢ Head of Revenue Department is Chief Commissioner of Land Administration at State Level.

➢ The core administration is carried out at Districts Collectorate that have direct interface with public.

➢ District is divided into Sub Divisions, which are further divided into Mandals that have jurisdiction over a few villages.

➢ At the Mandal level the Mandal Development Officer (MDO) takes care of the development activities.
