Winnie the Pooh was based on and name after Milne's son's teddy bear. His name was Christopher Robin and only Owl and Rabbit are not based on his toys.
Milne studied Maths at Cambridge, but he wanted to be a writer. He wrote for the student magazine and later joined Punch magazine, where he wrote humorous poems.
Although he was a pacifist, Milne served in the army in World War I and the Home Guard in World War II.
Walt Disney bought the film rights to Winnie the Pooh in 1961 and have made several films and TV series about him. He even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
Although he is best known for Winnie the Pooh, Milne wrote over 40 plays and screenplays during his career.
