OMEGA ® Scanner Overview
Dec 28, 2015
Introduction
• The OMEGA® Tracer® System allows practitioners to create prosthetic and orthotic devices electronically instead of with plaster
• The system features the OMEGA Scanner– Hand-held laser scanner– Non-contact– Completely portable
• The contours of the shape being captured are determined by a pulsed crosshair laser that is emitted from the Scanner.
• Simultaneously, LEDs illuminate reflective targets on the surface of the shape so that digital cameras in the Scanner can record the position of the targets in space.
• Capable of scanning directly over skin, sock, liner, plaster, or foam
• Able to scan complex and intricateor detailed shapes and surfaces
• Can pause and resume scanning during the scanning session
• Can merge two scans to create a shape

Alpha DESIGN® Liners
• Upper and lower extremity shapes captured with the Scanner can be used as the basis for creating custom Alpha Liners
• Ideal for providing comfort and protection for patients who are not suited for off-the-shelf components
Below Elbow Applications
• Accommodates various levels of amputation for Below Elbow as well as Wrist Disarticulation patients
• Skin-fit suction sockets• DESIGN liners
Above Elbow Applications
• Accommodates various levels of amputation for the Above Elbow, as well as Elbow and Shoulder Disarticulations
• DESIGN liners
Custom Breast Prostheses
• Scans of the intact breast and surgical site are taken and merged into a single shape in the software
• Order form is completed within Tracer and is sent to a WillowWood fabrication partner with the shape file for fabrication
AFOs
• Scan the outer surface of a negative model
• Scan the inner surface of 2 halves of a negative model
• Scan the limb with the footin a foam impression box
Cranial Remolding Helmets
• After the shape is captured with the OMEGA Scanner and modified as desired, the file is sent to an FDA-approved partner for fabrication
Knee Braces
• Knee shapes can be captured using the OMEGA Scanner and sent to the desired manufacturer for brace fabrication
Using the Scanner
• Hand-held, non-contact, portable• Captures intricate detail• Wide range of orthotic and prosthetic
applications
