Pastor’s Corner In our readings, we hear of catastrophes, disas-ters and wars. These events are not signs of the end of the world, but point toward the fact that we are from the end times. It's by being faithful

to Jesus' work of building the Kingdom that we hasten toward the end. The end is near when goodness and love are every-where. The end is marked by goodness, not by evil. When God's reign of peace and justice is established throughout the world, the end will come. There will be no more work of salvation to do. As the Archbishop wrote in his column in the Catholic Voice, the diocese will be focusing on the "end times" as we look at the Church's ritual of death and dying. Secular society has become very matter-of-fact about how we dispose of the dead and the practices surrounding funerals. We will be addressing this in future homilies throughout the diocese. As the liturgical season of Ordinary time winds down during November, the focus of the readings is on the Second Coming of Jesus, and the establishment of the King-dom on earth. The season will close next weekend with the Solemnity of Christ the King. We then begin the season of Advent. Let's continue to be good disciples of Christ by preaching and teaching His gospel with our lives. Have a good week, Fr. Greg

St. Vincent de Paul

To have ears to hear the “cries of the poor,” To have eyes to “seek and find the forgotten, the suffer-

ing or the deprived,” and To have hearts that “bring God’s love to the poor”

through their generosity and donations. The Gospel predicts end times; our challenge though is to live faithfully now. St. Vincent often asked this simple question; “What would Jesus Christ do, if he were in my place now?” Ask yourself “What would Jesus Christ do?” and then put your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul poor box so that those who are suffering will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving.

HOLY GHOST CHILD CARE What’s Happening at the

Childcare? This week our children have learned the meaning of the word thankful. It has been a natural discussion with the beginning of our pajama drive. At this young age, it’s natural for the children to be self centered-their needs, their wants. We have taken a mo-ment to open their eyes to the fact that they should be very grateful for all God has blessed them with. We have shown them that there are little children just like them who have nothing- no home, no families, no food. We also asked our families to help us in this discussion by doing our annual feather project. We have a ‘naked’ turkey who needs feathers. The goal is for each family to sit together and discuss all that they, as a family, are thankful for this year. So far, our turkey is looking really really good!! And speaking of our pajama drive, we will be placing our drop boxes in the back of the church and encourage you all to help us out by donating new books and pajamas for ages infant through teen age. The drive ends November 27th. Thank you all! Have a wonderful week!! Trina

Defend Human Dignity Next week’s collection for the Catholic Cam-paign for Human Development (CCHD) needs your help. CCHD was founded to end the cycle of pov-erty throughout America by funding organizations that help individuals help themselves. With a tradi-tion of improving education, housing, and community economic development, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in communities nationwide. Defend human dignity. Take poverty off the map. Please give to the CCHD Collection.

During this season of giving, please consider making a contribution to the 2013-14 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, in thanksgiving for all we have re-ceived from the programs and ministries of our archdiocese. From RCIA, to support for our clergy, to training and mandation of EMHC and lectors, the Annual Appeal impacts our parish in many ways.
