Bonarda: produced with the grapes of Croatina (traditionally called Bonarda) and with the eventual adding of other red grapes (maximum 15%); it has red color intense with purple glares; intense and agreable smell dry or sweet, tannic, fresh and lively or sometimes quite sparkling. Very good with salami, italian agnolotti and brasato. To serve at room temp.

Barbera: It has a pleasant red color with purple shadings. The scent is delicate, floral of rose and very persistent. Very good with spicy plates.In order to exalt it’ better to serve at 16-18°C.

Cabernet Sauvignon: Cabernet Sauvignon is a variety of red grape. Cabernet Sauvignon has a well defined aroma. In Old World wines, particularly those made in Bordeaux, this is characterised by a smell of violets, blackcurrant, cedar and spice

Pinot Nero : Pinot nero is a variety of Vitis vinifera, a red grape. The Pinot Nero DOC has red color with good viscosity.The Pinot Nero DOC must be served at a temperature of 16-18 °C with cheeses ages.

Sangue di Giuda: The Blood of Giuda DOC is red with purple glares. It is composed with barbera grapes until a maximum of 65%, Croatina 25% rare Grape, Ughetta (Vespolina) and Pinot Nero, until a maximum of 45%Served at a temperature of 12° it can be served with fruit cakes. It is very good with strawberries

Chardonnay: Is produced with grapes chardonnay.The Chardonnay wine is straw-coloured with green reflections. The scent is clear, florale and and it remembers the flowers of acacia with light smell of pineapple and honey. The flavour is dry but, fresh and pleasently harmonic.It is accompanied optimally to first delicate plates. Optimal with fish and crustaceans. It must be served to temperature of 8-10° C.

Cortese: The Cortese DOC is straw-coloured and has a of good viscosity.It is a wine to drink young. Served at a temperature of 10°, the Cortese DOC is very good with risotti with fruits of sea, fish boiled with delicate sauces and crustaceans

Pinot grigio: The Pinot Grigio DOC of is obtained from the omonimous vine, that is a genetic mutation of Pinot Nero. It can be proposed in the versions firm, lively or sparkling.Minimal the alcoholic strenght(10,5°) and is better to taste it when it’s young.It is straw-coloured, with golden shadings.It has an elegant, intense smell with floral sent.In order to appreciate its characteristics, the Pinot Grigio DOC must be served at a temperature of 9-10 °C, with crustaceans, vegetables and first plates.

Pinot nero vinificato bianco: is straw-coloured, , with average viscosity. It can be firm, lively, sparkling. Minimal the alcoholic strenght, it must be of 10,5°.Served at a temperature of the 8-10 °C Pinot Nero DOC it is very good with crustaceans and fruits of sea, risotti with vegetables.

Riesling: The Riesling Italico DOC is straw-coloured with green glares, of medium viscosity. Obtained from the grape of Italic Resling, this wine is proposed in the The Italic Riesling DOC must be served at a temperature of 10 °C, with lean appetizers, vegetables, eggs and fried fish of sweet water

Sauvignon: Sauvignon DOC is composed with minimum 85% grapes Sauvignon, The minimal alcoholic strenght is 11° It can be produced in the versions firm and sparkling. It has fine, intense, scent To the palate it is a wine with great equilibrium and persistence. To serve at a temperature of 10° on cold appetizers and first delicate plates.

Malvasia:Malvasia DOC is an aromatic wine of yellow color more or less intense. It can be produced in the versions dry or sweet, firm, lively, sparkling. It has a minimal strenght of 10°. In order to appreciate fully its characteristics, it must be served at the temperature of 9°. Ideal with appetizer and first plates.

Spumanti: It’s made with with grapes with those of black Pinot vinificato in white manner.The typologies of the oltrepò Spumanti are two: method Classic and Martinotti method.The Oltrepò Sparkling wine Pavian Method Classic in its turn is subdivided in1) Oltrepò Pavian Method Classic and 2) Oltrepò Pavian Pinot Nero Method Classic.It must be served at a temperature of 8/9° and is ideal as first wine of the lunch or with appetizers.

Moscati: Moscato DOC is an aromatic wine of yellow colour and good viscosity.It’s made with Moscato grapes of the white man (minimal 85%) and Candia Malvasia (maximum 15%); This wine, always sweet, can be produced in various versions: Sparkling with Martinotti method, with one minimal alcoholic strenght of 6%; Passito, with minimal alcoholic strenght of 10°. In order to appreciate better its characteristics it must be served at a temperature of 8°C.It is perfect with vegetables and fruit cakes and desserts with delicate creams.

The salami production in the oltrepò is most diffused and is very deep-rooted in the tradition. The Varzi ‘s salame is the most famous salami of the zone. The production of the salame started two thousand years ago when Longobardi, for their characteristics of nomadic population, had the necessity salate meats.

The Alpine Botanical Garden of Corva Stone is found in Romagnese at 950 m of altitude, on the slopes of the Mount Corva Stone, an evocative and vulcanic cliff. It’s one of 28the gardens now present on the Italian territory. The species currently present in the garden are approximately 1300.

The Garzaia protects numberous species of vegetables, and various varieties of birds that here, to the border between plain and hill, have found the place ideal in order to nest. Several species of birds arrives in very precise periods of the year: the aironi cenerini are the first to arrive in January; followed by the nitticore, the garzette, red aironi red and the sgarze ciuffetto

The park of Fortunago has an extension of approximately 400 hectares and it is placed between the hills that encircle the village at an altitude between the 300 and 600 mt. The park is situated in a panoramic position and offers interesting naturalistic topic both for the flora and for the fauna: in fact you can admire the Astragalus sirinicus and various exemplary of orchidee, protect from the Lombardic regional law, but also vary birds of prey as sparrow for example.

The Natural Reserve of Mount Alpe has been instituted in 1985. We can found species of natural vegetables like the canine rose, the hepatic anemone, and animals such as weasel, squirrel, dormice, wild boars, roe-bucks and wolves. In the zone they nest birds of prey like the sparrow, the buzzard, the owl.

This park surface about seventy hectares inside the Common one of Casei Gerola, near Voghera.The park accommodates 219 very species of birds, 25 species of mammals, 7 species of amphibians, 7 of resisted them and 12 of fish

The great Park of Salice Terme (approximately thirty hectares enriched from plants of high stalk, like larici, firs, oaks and birches) offers to the visitor many possibilities; In the park are present 6 tennis courts and 2 swimming pools;

The swampy park of Lungavilla has been realized in 1984. The old quarries of clay that compose the Park represent an important landscaped element both under the historical and cultural aspect and for the multiple naturalistic valences. The breakup of the quarries ones in the plain territorial context, united to the water presence, facilitates the numerous presence of species of vertebrates. In the park there are seventy species of birds and twenty between mammals, reptiles and amphibious.

Discovered in 1957 during the construction of the school, the furnace of Massinigo is one of the better conserved examples in Lombardy. It has a circular plan and it is constructed in stone in the foundations and then bricks. It has a diameter of 4, 10 meters The analyses indicate that the last use of the structure was about in the first century d.C. (20 d.C. ± 20 years).

Guardamonte extends along the top and the northern areas of Vallassa mount, between Saint Sebastiano

Curone and Bagnària. Discovered in 1950’s it’s a complex installation that has its origins in the course of V the

millenium a.C.

the Lorini castle is of XIII the century. It’s part of the defensive system of Montalto’ s stronghold

This caste , one of the more interesting of the zone, was constructed in the first decades of 1200 by the Sannazzaro ‘s family

On the top of a hill, in a forest, ther’s the castle with square tower, in local stone and bricks, for a long time home of Dal Verme family. In the courtyard of the castle, supported to the east wall, from 1922 is placed a funeral stele of the first century d.C dedicatet to Marcus Octavius Macedo and to Cottia Polla, coming from the near village of Valverde.

The place was stormed in the 1415 from the Conte di Carmagnola, Visconti mercenary. The castle rises in a key position for the control of the Ardivestra valley.

This castle rises on the place of an ancient fortress and its size is wrapped from two garden, an italian one and an english one.

Constructed in 1000 , The castle of Nazzano is characterized from the high tower, very visible from the plain. Completely restored at the beginnig of XX century, the castle of Nazzano is today one of most evocative of the Oltrepò.

Voghera, Visconti’s Castle: between 1372 and 1400 on the will of Galeazzo II Visconti. The main building is a great square of 54 meters of side, in origin it had four towers with the two higher in correspondence of the accesses to north and south,

Castles

Oramala: An impressive stronghold made of local stone, dominating the whole of the valley is all that remains of a once mighty castle, reconstructed after the original fortress, going back to the year one thousand, was destroyed. The marquises of Malaspina reached the apex of their splendour in the XII and XIII centuries and hosted poets from Provence at their court.

Bressana Bottarone: The castle is in Bressana Bottarone near village called Argine. Constructed probably in XIV the century and completed in the successive century, the castle had successive modifications but it is still integral.

The Dal Verme Caste of Zavattarello is on top of a wooded hill over the village at 608 meters of height

It’s an original complex of 1400 belonged to numerous noble families (the Beccaria, the Taverna). In the Castle there are red and black marble fireplaces, furnitures, pictures and decorations that are recalled to the period from 1500 to 1700. Near the Castle the ancient little church of Saint Gaudenzio. Today it is a restaurant and hotel

Romagnese’ Castle was built in 1387 by Dal Verme family and now is the municipal building.
