Older children- There will be no dinner or classes for adults or children on Wed., April 12th, in observance of the introspective time of Holy Week. Maundy Thursday Cantata and Worship Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, is the day of solemn remembrance of the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. The Maundy Thursday service at Memorial will be April 13 th at 7:00PM in Maxwell Hall. As a part of the Maundy Thursday worship, our chancel choir, accompanied by an instrumental chamber group, will present Followers of the Lamb by Lee and Susan Dengler. This work is filled with music, the words of Jesus, and testimony of some of His followers. Holy Week moves us from the praise of Palm Sunday, to the anguish of the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the cross of Calvary, to the resurrection Easter morning. Good Friday Worship and Labyrinth April 14 th Good Friday is the Friday before Easter when we remember the crucifixion of Jesus. Worship on Good Friday will begin at 12:00PM in the Sanctuary. This prayer time will begin with a brief meditation on the events of Good Friday and then the labyrinth will remain open until 2:00PM for all to experience. Due to the renovations, the Sanctuary will be accessible only by the front entrance and using stairs. If you are looking to enrich your discipline, make this the month that you try Taizé. Memorial’s candlelight Taizé worship is a slow, peaceful service of music and mediation often called a “renewal for the soul.” Worship includes communion and lasts around 45 minutes. Nursery is not provided but older children who are comfortable in this quiet, meditative atmosphere often attend. MUMC’s Taizé worship is always the first Sunday of each month (except May) at 6:00PM at Trinity. Community Easter Celebration is in TWO Weeks! Our annual Community Easter Celebration, is Sat. Come by and pick some up any time! Help Our Youth During Shrimp Fest! Shrimp Fest is the biggest fundraising opportunity for our youth. The funds raised through parking cars at the church or selling their award-winning shrimp quesadillas help our youth pay for mission trips and activities. If you can help, please contact Marisa in the Partin Center. Palm Sunday, April 9th Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. At 9:30AM worship, we’ll have a palm processional with the children. If your children would like to participate, please have them in the back of Maxwell Hall at 9:15AM. Worship will end a few minutes early, around 10:15AM, so that all can participate in the Community Palm Sunday Celebration. We will walk to the Court House for the processional down Centre Street.
