Page OCAPL Record OKLAHOMA CITY ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL LANDMEN VOLUME 0, ISSUE 8 OCTOBER, 202 Treasurer’s Letter It amazes me how fast time goes by these days, except during the summer when the temperature in Oklahoma is so hot. To escape this misery, I was able to attend this summer’s AAPL National Convention in San Francisco for the first time and would recommend it to all members that can attend. It was a great time, excellent speakers, especially Tom Ridge, and a wonderful city to explore. Also, we were able to get a break from the heat and refresh our minds and bodies in a chilly San Francisco. Now it is October and the summer is over and we are back to business as usual. I would like to personally thank all of our members who give of their time and energy by working on OCAPL Committees and volunteering at all of our events. Without your help, OCAPL would not be able to provide our members with these quality events beginning with the Fishing Tournament, Golf Tournament and Sporting Clays. As a note, since our membership is over 1700 members, these venues are limited as to how many members can attend, based on the capacity allowed by these venues. We wish that all members would be able to attend, however, since that is not possible, be sure that if you are interested in attending, please sign-up early as they will fill very quickly. Also, we are also thankful for all of our sponsors that contributed to the success of these events. On Monday, October 1, 2012, we had our CPL luncheon at the Petroleum Club and listened to C. Michael Ming, Oklahoma Secretary of Energy give a presentation on “Oklahoma’s First Energy Plan”. It was a very well attended meeting with great information provided. Later in the evening we had our nightly meeting with Points of Interests Director’s Report 3 Nominating Comm. Report 7 New Members 9 Mark Mathis, the producer of the movie “Spoiled.” He had a great presentation and clips of his movie in his presentation. Copies of the movie were sold after the meeting, so if you have not seen the movie, please check around with other members who may have purchased it. Also, OCAPL & AAPL will host a “Field Landman Seminar” on Thursday night, October 18, 2012, at Willow Creek Golf & Country Club starting at 5:00 pm. Speakers will be Mr. Junior Freeman from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission speaking on “Databases and Instructions for Information Online at OCC” and Mr. Darrell Noblitt, speaking on “Cowboy Ethics.” If you have not registered, there is still time and I would encourage you to attend. It will be a fun night with a buffet dinner and a happy hour before the meeting. It will be a great time to meet new people, socialize and also to acquire 2 RL/RPL/CPL CE credits. The registration form is available on the OCAPL website for those wanting to attend. On Monday, November 12, 2012, we will have our Awards Banquet and the President of AAPL, Jim Dewbre, from Southwestern Energy Company, will be attending. This should be a great time and everyone will be able to talk with Jim and welcome him to our meeting. We will have a normal sit down and eat format for this event, so please sign up and attend. Also, the OCAPL Nominating Committee has proposed and recommended the following for 2013 Officers, AAPL Executive Director and 4 OCAPL Executive Board Committee positions: President Mike Walker Vice-President Lindsey Miles Treasurer Amy Love Secretary Nick Watkins AAPL Director Kent Loeffler Executive Board Bill Irvin (2013 only) Executive Board Jack Sweeney (2013 only) Executive Board Larry Patrick (2013 & 2014) Executive Board Richard Standage (2013 & 2014) The nominees and recommendations were confirmed by a majority vote of the OCAPL Executive Committee. As the Holiday Season will soon be upon us, OCAPL is currently working on the details for the OCAPL Christmas Party, tentatively set for December 3, 2012, so please check the website periodically for any change of date and location. This is our final event of the year to finish up a great year for our membership. Thanks again to all for making this year a success. Sincerely, Mike T. Walker, Treasurer

Director’s ReportDirector’s Report
The AAPL Quarterly Board Meeting was held in Newport, RI on September 16, 2012. The following is a summary of the highlights of the meeting. Jim Dewbre, AAPL President, presided over the meeting.
NAPE Report – Marty SchardtSummer NAPE was again a great success. Registrations, booth spaces were all up from last year. Specifically, attendance was up 20% from last year’s Summer NAPE.
NAPE is moving East. Plans are well on their way in planning the April 10, 2013 event in Pittsburg.
The Summer NAPE industry luncheon featured Sal Giunta as the Keynote speaker. Sal is the first living medal of honor winner since the Vietnam war. His inspirational message about war and patriotism was a very special event of the NAPE programs.
For 2013 Winter NAPE, we are currently seeking growth not only in sponsorships, but also in Exhibitor Registrations. NAPE East has begun issuing sponsorship contacts including presenting sponsorships, and exhibitor registrations, attendee registrations, and housing is now open. There is significant excitement for NAPE EAST, and AAPL would like to capitalize on the opportunities to communicate with potential NAPE East attendees in the upcoming months and during Summer NAPE.
Treasurer’s Report – Matt Smith Revenues, exclusive of investment revenue, compared to June 30, 2011 have increased 27.8% from $6,443,866 to $8,234,633. Expenses have increased 15.4% from $5,844,368 to $6,741,022. The increase in expenses is due to the growth in programs such as marketing, education, and other initiatives over the course of the year.
Membership Report:AAPL saw a growth of 920 new members between May and August 2012. The new additions bring AAPL’s total membership to 16,243 total members.
Business Items / Committee Reports
After the introduction and publicizing for our new member mark, the marketing committee implemented the logo into the association’s first advertisement campaign. Focused in the Eagle Ford shale, the campaign is geared toward encouraging landowners to work with AAPL members and also encouraging landowners to with APPL members and also encouraging non-AAPL landmen to join the association.
The Form 610 Revision Task Force continues to make great progress in their revision of the modified form to account for horizontal wells.
The education committee is working on a third educational track for the next annual meeting which will be dedicated to field land work. These sessions will be of interest to both field landmen and in-house landmen who work with field landmen or need a better appreciation of field work. A flyer promoting this opportunity is being prepared and will be distributed at upcoming field landmen seminars.
The 2013 AAPL Annual Meeting will be held June 5-8th, 2013, at the Grand Hyatt Washington, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C. Located six blocks from the National Mall, about midway between the Washington Monument and the Capitol, and eight blocks from the White House it is convenient to all major attractions.
Respectfully,
Kent Loeffler, CPL AAPL Director – Region VI
