    !uring the first three weeks of school we have beenworking on different pro+ects with our children. o far

    we made play dough, built wooden dinosaurs andmade ice cream in addition to our scheduled daily

    activities. -hese pro+ects involve science, arts andcrafts, cooking and sports.

    Making trail mix

    Here is a sample recipe forbanana applesaucepancake that we will use this year:

    Kindergarten Program

    From 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. every day

    we start our after schoolprogram with ourkindergarteners. During thistime we read a chapter book

    and discuss the story.

    about the story. *ne of the things we ask thestudents to do is make predictions about what willhappen in the story.

    Fitness Program

    0ast year we started following the P$0$ 1Presidential

    $ctive 0ifestyle $ward fitness program% which hastwo core principals -- physical activity and nutrition.

    #he program runs for si/ to eight weeks and asksparticipants to commit to making healthy choices by

    doing 60 minutes of physical activity and creatingweekly nutritional goals.

    We will help the children chart their daily physicalactivity on a regular basis. In the after schoolprogram we are spending over an hour outside each

    day as long as weather permits. During this time thechildren are involved in many different activities thatcan count towards their 60 minutes of physical

    activity. For the first month of school we will begincharting the activities and start the process with thefamilies at home next month. dditional information
