CHAPTER I

Article 1. - In the ·~'cholimTaluka, at Village Von exists the old temple of Shri ahamaya Kalika on the land donated by the heirs of late S .ri Bablo Bhicu Shet Kansar Yende. The area of land so do.n~~ed surrou., nding temple is 1690 sq. metres of a plot of land k own as "Deulakodil Tenko" which is described under Regis ation No. 14520 and surveyed under No. sub-division of th Village Von Registration Sub--district Bicholim. \

The tenders of the contractors who do not deposit Earne3t Money in prescribed form are Haole to be rejected. shall totally exceed Rupees ten. Any person enrolled as mahajans shall enjoy equal right, privileges, honours and ob­ligations alongwith all other mahajans.

(ii) All those professing the Hindu religion, irrespective of Caste, Class, Sect of family group shall be allowed to the usage and custom to render worship in the premises of the temple and also to perform religious acts and to institute festivities and to make donations to the temple or Devalaya. Such acts shall, however, in no way entitle them to claim the Mahajanship of the Devalaya or Temple.

(iii) Aforesaid Catalogue is composed of following "gotras" (Progency· comprising various groups of families) 1) Attri, 2) Kaushik, 3) Shandhilya, 4) Vatch, 5) Vashaitya, 6) An­gyarasa, 7) Kashypa, 8) Bharadhavaja, 9) Dalashya, 10.) .Bhramha Spatya,11) Ahambhunyachy.

Article 4. - (i) Every applicant who may in future be admitted as Mjlhajans shall pay Re. 1/- (one) as an entrance fee along wit!i application for Mahajanship and on being admitted as Mahajan by. the administrative committee shall pay yearly subscription of Re. 1/- (one) or

(li) Being admitted as Mahajan shall pay Rs. 11/- (Eleven) or more in lump sum.

Ar1;icle 5.-The right of all mahajans including of those who may be admitted as Mahajans in terms of art. 30) is here­ditary and perpetual in the masculine lineage and is trans­mitted from generation to generation by consanguinity or by legal adoption and this right becomes effective once a person becomes major of age and is duly enrolled as Mahajans of the Devalaya. A complete list of all the mahajans including those who may be admitted as mahajans in terms of art. 3(i) shall be properly maintained by the Managing Committee and a copy of the same shall be displayed in the notice board of the Devalaya during the month of January every yellr.

Article 6. - The members of Managing Committee shall be responsible to .carry out the duties and work ~lating to the temple without any gratification.

Article 7. - All the members are bound in duty: (1) To contribute according to their possibilities to beneficiate the temp,le and to increase its funds. (2) To pay the subscriptions that may be fixed by the general body for any necessary

. expenses.

CHAPTER II

Properties of Devasthan

Article 9. - The receipts consist of:­

(1) Interest on funds of the temple (2) Gifts and donation in cash (3) Charges fixed for various religious acts ( 4) Offers given by Mahajans and devotees (,5) The·· proceeds of the auctioned articles on vari6.us

Article 13. - (i) The following religious festivities shaH be celebrated.

(1) Chaitra Pratipada, Shul{lapaksh (2) Weekly "Fridays (3) Shravani Fridays (4) Ashadi Amavasha (5) Shravani Pratipada (6) Navaratrotsav (7) Paush Makarsankrant (8) Magh Rathsaptami shall be celebrated in vedic terms

such as Laghrudra, Panchbrahman samaradhna, Puran and then followed by the procession of "Palkhi" around the temple and then the Deity shall be raised on the elevation (Sajjav) and the said 'Utsav' shall be ended by 'Arti'.

(li) BeRide~ whatever contained in the above referred article the mana~g committee may celebrate any other festivities according td the necessities.

I CHAPTER V

Servants and their duties

Article. 14. - The remunerated staff of the temple are:-1) Pujari.

Article 15. - The renumerated staff referrc'd to in the above Article are subordinate to the General Body and to the Manag­ing Committee and they are bound to fulfil faithfully the duties of their posts.

1) It is the duty of the Pujari: to collect the flowers and tulsis in the morning, cleaning up the temple and devara, oiling and lightning of brass lamps placed in the Garbha­graha, dictate the Puja in vedic terms, to make abhisheks of the members and devotees at their cost, and mid-day Arti and Naivedya Kaula, and at night Dhuparti. To place the image in "Palkhi" and Ratha and to accompany it in its traject during procession, to stay in tlle temple during the respective time table, to maintain in possession the objects and clothes of daily use of the image and to per-

. form other acts: The salary of the pujari and staff is to be fixed by the Managing Committee.

.·,AIticle 1~ . .,- The remunerated staff of the temple must pefform his/their duties carefully and with trust under the supervision of the Managing Committee.

Para 1. - The pujari on the duty, shall have to bear the sole responsibility of protecting and keeping intact all the precious and valuable articles such as Gold, Silver and other

. Jewellery put on the deity in the daily use at the time of festivities.

. Para 2. - Besides the pujar1, there will be more remune­rated staff if necessary according to the needs of the services.

CHAPTER VI

\ The penal Disposition

Article 17. - Every Mahajan should behave properly and decently. The Mahajan/s, who behave unmannerly, rudely or indecently in the area of 'the temple, the Managing Committee have right to impose a fine of minimum rupee one to maxi-, mum rupees twenty five.

Para 1. - The amount of fine as indicated above, is to be immediately credited to the Temple funds. In case of failure, the managing committee will issue hini a notice in the first place to effect for the payment of the imposed fine, within a prescribed limit of seven days failing \yhich the Mahajan will cease to enjoy his rights till he makes good the payment.

Article 18. - The following are the punishtp.ents prescribed for those remunerated staff who will not be performing his/ ·/their duties in the right manner or disobey the orders of the General Body or Managing Committee in relation to the temple administration.

Para 1.-The.remunerated staff who do not perform duties shall be punished by the Managing Committee with a warning for the first time with suspension for the second time and for the third time their services shall be terminated by the Managing Committee with prior- consent of general body of the Mahajans. .

Para 2. - The Managing Committee shall not punish the remunerated staff for omission or any of their, faults unless they are given sufficient opportunity of being heard by the General Body of Mahajan.

Para 3. - The Managing Committee of the Devalaya if necessary can appoint a temporary remunerated staff which appointments should be later on confirmed. by the General Body of Mahajans.

Para 4. - The temporary appointments of the substitute remunerated staff will be made by the Managing Committee for which a sanction shall have to be accorded by the General Body.

Article 19 - The remunerated staff who will be absenting himself/themselves without prior. permission of the Managing Committee or substituting himself/themselves performing his/their duties shall be punished to pay a fine of five rupees by the Managing Committee. .

CHAPTER VII

General Provision

Article 20. - The' salaries of remunerated staff and other expenses of the Temple be regulated in acco~ance with respective estimates drawn up by the Managing "committee of the Temple duly formulfl-ted and approved by ~e Govern-ment. ' .,

Article 21. - The priest shall not solemnize any worship without a prior collection of the respective fees as prescribed in Article 13 by passing a receipts over the signature of the

Para. 1. - The religious duties or any other religious per. formances shall be performed 'through the priest\ of the Temple. '.'

Article 22. - The Temple is subject to the prevailiilg laws and regulations and to those which may be enacted by the Government in future.

Article 23. - Other laws applicable to the Temple shall be as per "Regulamento dos Mazanias".
